Nice one, Vaati.

Vilhelm's voice is the best part of the whole DLC

After you defeat Gael and go back to her, it’s the saddest. “I hope uncle Gael will like my painting. When will he be back?” :( some of the saddest and most intriguing lore from DS3 imo. Their relationship is so interesting

"Every secret must be unearthed. Such is the conceit of the self-proclaimed seeker of truth."

I think he's talking about you.

I think that the next DLC will take place in an amusement park styled area, called poise land. It's all run down and everything collapses when you numb it.

Can't believe you didn't mention Rosaria in that list. She has ARIA in her name, known as an actual motherly figure and is an actual goddess, and she's also known for embracing forlorn ala Yellowfinger Heysel and the man grubs. Not to mention she's actually IN the Cathedral where you find Gael.

I admire the voices they find. Vilhelm has a genuinely unique voice.
Also, after many years I finally know what those discs were... Thanks, Vaati ;p

Oceiros:
"Ahh, you ignorant slaves. Finally taken notice have you? Of the power of my beloved Ocelotte, child of dragons.
Well, I will not give him up. For he is all that I have."
"Ahh, dear little Ocelotte. Where have you gone? Are you hiding from me? Come out, come out, don't be afraid.
You were born a child of dragons, what could you possibly fear? Now, now, show yourself, Ocelotte. My dear, little Ocelotte."

Notable that the mad king makes mention of slaves taking notice of a child of dragons. Perhaps he has mistaken the player for a Slave Knight, come to take custody of a dragon child. Perhaps, Gael once did the same.

The way I understood the lore the first time I read it was that "Aria", the white haired girl is from the first cycle and probably lived during Gwyn's time.
The paintings aren't named after the artist, but for who they were painted for.
The painter, Aria, is immortal because she lives inside the painting, resetting it's world every time the rot kicks in and painting a new one from the ashes of the burnt painting, constantly painting over it, that's why there are still parts in Ariandel from Ariamis.

The painting of Ariandel doesn't mean "the painting that belongs to Ariandel" but "the painting of Ariandel as a person", like saying "The photo of Trump".

Aria is the mother of the Forlorn because she's been painting forlorn people, giving them a home for themselves.
So the real question then is, who is Ariamis?
If I'm right, the painting of Ariamis wasn't painted *by* Ariamis for Priscilla, but *FOR* Ariamis by Aria.
Priscilla was just locked there because it was a convenient place to hide her.

So then, who was the original painting for?
Is Ariamis then the First of the Forlorn?

But hey, that's just a theory
A SOULS THEORY

I love how they acknowledge you as the Lord of Hollows if you head there after marrying Anri.
