As a former Stagehand that worked for many years assembling various concerts, I would say Mr Billy Gibbons was the most amazing and personable performer I ever met. I have done 7 shows for him. Every time he not only came down to thank the crew, he personally acknowledged me in every show we pulled together. He even went so far as to inform the company I was working for that he would replace them if I wasn't on his calls.

Met him in a deli in Manhattan in 2001, I didn’t want to bother him but by coincidence I had read in the paper that morning that it was his birthday so I said “Hey ZZ Top, Happy Birthday” and he beamed “aw thanks maaan!” I think he expected me to ask for his autograph but I left him alone. I was behind him in line and he bought a shit ton of water to bring back to the W hotel. Paid with a Amex gold card and said good night to me as he walked out. That was my celebrity brush with greatness (old Late Night fans know this needs some writers embellishment)

My buddy did a tour opening for ZZ. Said Billy hung with them all the time.

One day he points out my friends don’t have a band logo on their bass drum

“Nobody will know who you are” said billy.

He promptly started to design a logo, print it and tape it on the drum.

He still has the logo.

My dentist went to school with Billy Gibbons and showed up at his office during my dentist had me answer the door and what a rush...Billy G!! We had been talking about him for a year and he thought it would be cool if Billy came to visit and pick up his new gold grill for his didn't even care how much he charged me for my visit. Billy is REALLY laid back folks....Mr. Hendrix said Billy Gibbons was the best blues guitarist he'd ever heard....what an endorsement.
