Old people like me may remember the old times when we used to use our fingers for everything. From apply foundation, eyeshadow (we even used the little sponge sticks including in the packaging)… and even using one of our fingers for the lipstick, just to give “a little bit of colour” to our lips. And for the setting powder, we used to use the powder puff including in the package too. Back then, the makeup used to be more basic, and we aim to get it as natural as possible.

This is how I learned to do my eyeshadow as a kid. Things got way better when I learned how to use brushes lol.

This is the way I applied eyeshadow in the 70's and 80's. Nothing new to me. I used my fingers to apply foundation too. I used a puff for powder.

I actually use sponge tip applicators for my eyeshadow. I lways feel like i get more color payoff and less fall out. I also use my fingers for my foundation, concealer and cream blush. I use a powder puff for my powder. I normally do my full face in 12 min. I have brushes but find I spend more time when i use them.😂

So in the early 80s, I used the sponge tip applicators that came in the three and five pan eyeshadow palettes that Maybelline and cover girl sold. I also used cotton balls and Q-tips. And before anybody was really using brushes I started using the paint brushes that came in my water colors for art class. I have no idea what I was doing, however, I knew that it was helping me apply make up much easier. It was always fun to use a cotton ball to apply my blush if it was a cream blush otherwise, if it was powder, then it always came with one of those little cheek brushes same as the powder compact came with a compact Application pad. So I think I always had some type of tools available to me. But I only ever used my fingers to apply foundation because that’s the way I was taught in the 80s… Early 80s I must say. This was fun to watch… So thank you very much for the good time!❤❤❤

Zabrena, , I would love to see a dupes video for Besame lipsticks and their cream blushes. I’ve never seen anyone do this and it would be so awesome if you could. Their products are way out of my price range but they all look so beautiful. I thought you might have some good recommendations. Love you and God bless.❤️❤️❤️

Use your fingers for the larger area of eyeshadow, and for cream or liquid products. Use q-tips pretty much just for eyeliner or eyeshadow cleanup. Powder and powder blush or bronzer, a cotton ball/pad. Its nice to know how to do it when something happens.... washed ALL your brushes and they're still wet... traveling and lost/forgot brushes... life happens.
As a pimply teen I always powdered my nose with a cotton ball, and threw it away every few days.

Being a teenager in the 80's I used q-tips quite often to apply eyeshadow.

I’ve done that before. It’s not bad. I’ve used my fingertips too

I've had to do this! When packing for a special event I forgot all of my eye brushes! It worked out but I was so mad! 😆

Loved this video, Zabrena! Brought back memories… When I had acne as a teen, I used Q-tips and cotton balls/rounds to apply my makeup, as per recommendation from my dermatologist. That kept infections at bay and my skin was grateful for that, as I don’t have any deep scars, that usually come after tunneling (when infections connect at the dermis and form scar tissue and pits). So, you could have used a cotton ball for powder/bronzer/blush and voilà.
