The Omega Speedmaster moon watch, the famous Speedy that all collectors love. I had never seen one in the steel. I finally tried it on and you might be surprised by my opinion.

Thank you to Bruce Williams for lending me his Speedy. Subscribe to Bruce’s excellent watch review channel:

“I’m not into chronographs but I want a Daytona” says it all.

I love my speedis more than my Daytona.

Being a lazy sod I bought the co-axial version. Had it for thirteen years, nothing has ever gone wrong and it is extremely accurate. What’s not to like. I’ve just put it on leather and I love it.

I bought a 1861 last week, first chronograph I’ve owned. I love this watch. Didn’t think I would but after trying various Omega pieces on (Aqua Terra, Seamaster Pro, Planet Ocean) the Speedy was the one for me! Sits low on wrist considering official thickness, not too heavy, crown close to case so doesn’t dig into the wrist, goes with anything dress wise...not a perfect watch but a charming piece in my eyes 👍

You haven't got to know it. You are right about the clasp and the adjustable clasp mod is a must for the bracelet. Even with the bracelet mod, this is not really a bracelet watch. Mine is 10% on the bracelet, 30% on various NATOs and 60% on straps. The watch is literally a strap monster and looks amazing on every strap I have put on it. Far more than any of the many watches I have owned. After three years, I beleive it is worth the hype and more. Stunning watch to own.

A fair assessment, especially regarding the water resistance.

Also, The Omega you reviewed is the outgoing model with the 1861 movement (1863 in the sapphire versions). You are correct that the 1861/1863 movements are not chronometer certified. However the new 2021 Speedmaster is indeed METAS Master Chronometer certified to +/- 0 to +5s per day, anti magnetic to 15, 000 gauss (more than the Milgauss) and is coaxial escapement. Also, the bracelet, although solid endlink, has a more dramatic taper from 20mm to 15mm giving it a much more vintage in flavor. The outgoing Speedies just didn’t quite do it for me either but the new 2021 version is stunning if you ever get a chance to handle it. I have the 2021 Hesalite Speedmaster and absolutely love it. It really feels like a brand new, vintage watch if that makes sense, which gives the 2021 Speedy a real “X factor” that you feel may be missing. In other words the new 2021 Hesalite Speedmaster feels like what Omega would have made back in 1957 if Omega had today’s technology and modern advances in horology and industrial production. And not just faux-vintage like a Tudor Black Bay 58

I am with you Marc. I just don't get 'The Feeling' with the 'Speedy' I appreciate that it's a very nice watch and all of the history, but when I wear it, it leaves me feeling flat. It just doesn't float my boat! Great video as always!

Great video man! I get the feeling. I review many watches that I understand the draw even if I don't personally have the fire for it.

I'm a recently self-diagnosed horophile and just came across your channel. Great video & look forward to the others and more. Good points on all counts but the history lesson alone may have just launched - no pun intended - the Omega to the top of my "just one more watch" list. Thanks! And ciao from Austin, Texas... Y'ALL!

I thought I wouldn’t like it initially but it’s grown on me! I have the sapphire sandwich with the display case back. ( cal. 1863 )

Great vid buddy!👍🏻

Yes the Speedy is boring, that because it not jewelry, its an actual tool like the vise grips in your tool box, its made to do a job, that's what make it endearing. Great review.

I own the Hesalite speedy pro with the 1861 movement and I sort of agree with you. Its sort of flat but then its a timeless classic like a 5 digit sub. It works with all sort of straps and pretty much from casual to formal.

The Hesalite version is so much more attractive from the front. That milky ring is not worth having a display caseback for.

Winding that small crown every day would piss me off. I went with a black Bulova Lunar Pilot. Couldn't be happier. More accurate, and no service costs.

I'm just not a chrono fan in general. I do love the personality of my Flightmaster though. Perfect on an NDC strap.

Not your thing, but the real thing is one from the 60s, a 321. It's all to do with how history touches you emotionally. My next piece is an Ed White, not the new release, but a 64 or 65 one. If you like history, an original 321 is the mother of all watches because it magnifies an era, brings up images from the 60s. No other watch does that. It is like a piece of your own childhood that you can put on your wrist.

Mr. Goldberg you sure failed to do your homework on this one. The comments reflect that. You just don't like it, but you like the Daytona.
