Here’s an easier way which I used to do during my prep :

To find value of r just use

R= [n+1/1+|x/y|] p.s the “[]” is of numerically greatest term

For example:

To find the numerically greatest term of (x+2y)^100 when x=2 and y =-3

By using above formula you’ll get r=75

And just put in formula of t r+1 and you’ll get your answer and the numerically greatest term will be 76th term
