WD-40 is an inexpensive product to use to restore chrome rims on your vintage motorcycle. Works great at removing rust from old parts. Grab some steel wool and get busy.

Subscribe for updates and follow along on social media!

This video series features the complete restoration of a 1972 CL350 Honda Scrambler motorcycle. The videos should help anyone whether working on a cafe racer build or a full-on original restoration. I'm definitely not an expert so please refer to your manuals for proper disassembly and assembly instructions. Please leave comments if you have any questions. I'll be happy to help answer questions if I can confidently provide solutions. Again, I'm not a professional. This is my 2nd Honda motorcycle restoration and I'm learning every single day. I'd love to hear your tips if you have better ways to do things. I hope you find the series useful and entertaining. I strive to show as much detail as possible so that the videos can be used as not only a how-to resource but also a reference for the placement and original set up of parts and systems.

If you don't have one already please get a manual for your specific project. There are many available online for download for free.

You can also join groups on Facebook and get involved in the community.

Keep on wrenching, Friends!

Please consider supporting the channel by purchasing items that you’ll need to complete your vintage motorcycle restoration project. Any support is appreciated.

my rims like yours....used a soft brass wire wheel (got all the hidden corners and creases)...rust came off easy....then used brown cutting compound and polished with white
used this same process on all the aluminum engine covers....again perfect

Boy I’m glad I found this. I have four motorcycle wheels that I thought would have to be replaced. Maybe there’s hope yet!

very good Let the WD40 sit for a day or two, it'll make much easier work of removing rust. (first thing I do with a new bike is saturate all the chrome, aluminum and painted surfaces with WD40 and let it sit for at least 2 days). I only use 0000 steel wool on chrome and I use a cotton towel on painted surfaces. After sitting a day or more in WD40, the heavily pitted areas can be cleaned up quickly by carefully, very carefully, using a razor blade.

After that the sky is the limit with metal and chrome polishes. Thanks for posting.

Another great video man I was curious were you going to try and use the same process on the spokes because they looked really roached

Best results are obtained with Royal Purple penetrating/anti corrosion oil spray.

Really good video. I don't know if anyone else has asked, but would a product called "Brasso" be equivalent to Colonel Brassy?
Thanks, I am going to try to freshen my BSA wheels using your methods.

Brian My Colonel is watery out of the bottle. Yours looks like its creamy. Did I buy the wrong product?

How does the wire wheel not scratch the fuck out of the chrome?
