How To Enable Disable Compatibility Mode For Apps In Windows 10. When Windows 10 first came out, it was a hive of bugs. The OS was better than Windows 8 / 8.1 (which wasn't an achievement), but calling it stable would have been a bit of a stretch.
Desktop apps that worked great on Windows 7 and even Windows 8 / 8.1 often struggled to work on a Windows 10 system.
Since then the situation has greatly improved, but some older applications still do not work with Windows 10. By launching them in a mode called compatibility mode, it is however possible to use them normally.
How To Change The Username Of on Windows 10 Account (Local Account Or Your Microsoft Account)
How to Remove Windows Spotlight items from Lock Screen From Windows 10?
How To Restore Missing Windows 10 Search Box Or Search Icon
How To Reset Windows Security App In Windows 10 || Windows Security Center Doesn't Open
To make older apps run more smoothly, Windows 10 has a compatibility mode where apps consider the operating system to be an older version of Windows. Today, many more apps are compatible with Windows 10 than five years ago. This option is therefore not widely used, but it still exists and is useful for continuing to run recalcitrant programs.
Compatibility mode can be enabled for desktop applications. It doesn't work for UWP apps. Also, not all desktop apps support compatibility mode.
