Pedal power is still manual physical exersion as in paddling. No motor. I agree 100 % with AvidSportsman

Only exception would be if there was a handicap that kept you from paddling.

when you throw a motor on whether it be electric or gas, you now have a boat tournament. I think one of the greatest draws in kayak tournaments was competition with a low dollar amount. If motors were allowed you would scare away people that think they "can't compete" against the motor driven kayaks(boats).

I am gonna go against the grain here. i understand many valid points made against motors in kayak fishing tournaments, however many of the points made against motors is that its unfair because not everyone has one. ok go buy one now all is fair. if you choose not to mount one on your boat that's your problem. another point i here is that well at what point does it cross the line. battery powered, if you cant power it with a battery you cant use it. simple. the idea behind any sport is to grow the game. local and state golf tournaments your allowed to use golf carts. so ppl choose not to take one and some ppl do. many ppl would not play if they cant ride a cart. riding a cart has allowed the game of golf to grow. the same with kayaks, since motorized kayaks have come on the market there has been a growth in the sport. that's a good thing in many ways. most ppl who fish serious kayak tournaments throughout the country are normally fisherman first and paddlers second. hardcore paddlers look down on the fisherman bc its purity is being tainted. OK fair point but many friends are like myself who don't have money to buy a bass boat but look to kayaking as a great way to fish serious and get off the bank. Were fisherman first and not really paddlers. whats great about bass fishing like the flw and such leagues is these guys will travel two hours one way to get to a spot. you cant do that in a kayak. big bags are the result of this and leads to more competitive results. kayak fishing you can only cover a tiny area with many other anglers in those spots. normally tournaments are on large bodies of water and everyone in the tournament will be on top of each other. but if you allow motors more water can be covered and the competition will be better bc ppl will catch larger fish and have to use more resources like pre fishing and pre tournament research just like pro leagues do on bass boats. I just think that this sport can grow and more ppl would be interested in kayak bass fishing if motors were allowed. everyone could have one so nothing is unfair. times change and you got to change with it. i own a feelfree lure without a motor but for as wide as it is its hard to paddle especially in current and having a motor would free more of my time to fish and cover more water and open up the body of water that i am on. i know its a losing battle to bring these points up but growing the sport should be everyone's goal.

NO trolling motors on a kayak in tournaments

simple answer is no! the whole allure originally to kayak fishing was to allow fisherman to make things simpler vs boat ownership in several aspects (cost of ownership, maneuverability, weight). when you add motors there is no real advantage over light weight jon boats.

Human Powered vs Non-Human Powered, I say no, unless there is a documented disability.
