When a public water pipe broke in front of his home, Henry Dupre counted on the city of Tampa to fix it. What he did not count on was the damage they left behind.

I work for a city. The ONLY reason they got this done for this man quickly (6 weeks) is because he went to the news.

About 6 months ago my landlord decided to put in sceptic tanks to each lot of the trailer park I live in. Well he contracted the city to do the work an when they were at my property they started digging with their machine. I was outside sitting under my tree with my daughter. They hit my mainline to my home and ripped it out of the ground. Instead of tracing the line back to where it was broken away from they just cut the line an and just shortened it. I told my daughter to go inside an I went in to turn my water on and nothing. As I went to go back outside they had filled in the hole an we're trying to leave. I ran out pissed off an stopped their truck by getting in front of their truck. The foreman jumps out saying "wtf is your problem". I told them that they broke my water line an didn't fix it, he told me that they did. I told them No You Did Not. I said you think that pulling 6ft of pipe out of the ground and just cutting it and making it shorter fixes the issue? He said fuck off an told me to leave. I gave him a choice to either go and fix my water line or by the end of the week I will have his job and every penny in his bank account. Well at this point another truck pulls up and a guy walks up to me asking very nicest "What going on". I told him what happened and showed him where it happened an told him that they were trying to leave without fixing it. Now at this point the side of my yard is completely saturated in water an water is flowing out of the ground like natural spring. The guy walked to his truck and grabbed a shovel an started digging where the water was. About 2 feet down he found the busted pipe. I told him that they ripped about 6ft out of the ground so he went to the shut off valve an shut the water off an told the idiots to dig till they found the other end of the piping. The guy was the big boss an I found out that he fired the crew that worked on my sceptic tank. The big boss told me that if my water bill is any higher then it normally is about this time of year that they would cover the difference. The only thing I don't understand is, why put in sceptic tanks when a home is already on city sewage. I also found out that the sceptic tanks are still connected to the city sewage lines.

"Our main contractor was let go for performance issues" now you've got more performance issues

"Yeah, we've reformed the process, so it's much simpler...what'cha gotta do, is, fill out this form, and get two estimates, get them notarized, then submit that along with this addendum to the Office of Suchinstuff, then they'll give you an Interim Approval Letter, and you take that and file it with Public Works, and then they'll give you a Request for Services and a walrus, and you take that Request and send it over to the two people you got estimates from, and they have to fill out an invoice and stamp the walrus, and then those invoices have to be in a certain range, and then you'll need to take the walrus and hand deliver it to our Paperwork and Radioactive Materials Department, which is located in Zambia and they'll give you a gram of Francium-223, which has a half-life of 22 minutes and is extremely hot in quantities large enough to view directly. You'll need to get the whole gram back to us, along with the invoices, the notarized estimates, the addendum, the Interim Approval Letter and the Request for Services, and we'll be able to complete the driveway work. It might take you a few hours, but look on the bright side...the old way of doing it involved unicorns."

I would have waited a few months to allow the ground to settle before complaining . Next we will hear that the concrete driveway is no longer level or it sank .

All these people talking about news worthy... excuse me if it was your driveway and you actually had to pay for it instead of mommy and daddy paying for everything you'd be pissed off for the city that you pay taxes to help fucking up things you paid for.
