Dr. Greger sound so dramatically convincing, he should run for a public office

Switching to a whole food plant based diet is one of the best decisions I ever took in my life.

Why did you make the title imply that you thought he was wrong?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there is no natural way to get B12 on vegan diet with out modern chemistry? So it would not be normal for human?

I have struggled with being overweight since about age 17 (I am 63). A lot of my difficulty, I now think, was stress driven. Low level, chronic stress drives me to overeat, and eat comfort (junk) food. Since retiring, it has been much easier to lose weight and keep it off, but I was still a little heavier than I would like, and it was still a bit of a struggle not to gain.
I then went vegan and the weight dropped further without struggle, and so far (it has only been a few months) is being maintained with relative ease. I also find it a lot easier to live with this diet than previous diets, including keto. But I don’t think I personally would have had the mental strength to make the change when I was working and stressed.
For me, it was a combination of reduced stress, and the vegan diet, that seems to be working. But the stress had to go first.

Here's the obfuscation part of this. They took people on the STANDARD(obesogenic diet) and taught them some plant based nutrition and sent them on their way. I put forward that if you taught any of these people ANY nutrition that guides them away from highly processed foods you will see fairly similar results. My problem with Gregor is he ONLY looks at plants as the cure to all of life's problems when there are many ways to do it. My only issue with veganism is only 14% can adhere to it for longer than 5 years and I suspect most of those and very hungry the entire time. If you can do that more power to you! I think DrOrsons comment is gold.

English is my second language, and I’m not the best at understanding some things. I clicked on the video so I have a better perspective on Dr. Gregor, hoping to find a problem with his advice. But you seem to keep saying that he is right about plant-based diet being healthy. This is personal, but I’ve been following Dr. Gregor’s diet for 10 days and I’ve lost 5.8kg, roughly 13lbs. My only concern is if everything in my body is functioning optimally considering how different and radical Dr. Gregor’s diet is compared to what the average people eat. What is your take on Dr. Gregor’s Daily Dozen diet? I can’t seem to come to a clear conclusion on your viewpoint even after watching the video.

I lost 100 lb in 100 days on a whole food plant-based diet and then another hundred pounds over the next year. It did work great for me however, I had to reintroduce meat at the end of that following year because my iron levels were so low and I was so anemic I couldn't make it up one flight of stairs. My doctor was even suggesting blood transfusions as a possibility. It can work extremely well but you really need to be careful and have your blood work taken regularly

Good analysis! Fiber and resistant starch in the intestines release a hormone saying ur full. I think that is a large factor.

what about the twin study that came out recently? I know its a small group over a short time span but it seems really interesting!

What would you call a good healthy diet? There are many diets: vegan, keto, carnivore, raw vegan, paleo, is there a specific diet which works best with our body? How can I found which one is healthier for me? i wonder if you as a molecular doctor can answer me.

Just want to say I am a Vegan, and I LOVED this! I love that you take the time to look at this from more then just then”Plant based is king” view point. In the plant based world everyone is so quick to look for ANYTHING that supports our viewpoint that often people will just take the face value info they are given and not take such a well rounded, multiple view point look such as you did here. Great video sir

Good analysis. At 80 years of age I've done well on a plant based diet with a very minimal addition of animal protein, with one or 2 5 day fasts per year. The famous Dr. Tilden of Colorado healed people with a vegetarian diet, but also recommended - paradoxically - a silver dollar size portion of chopped meat every day, just to be sure I guess.
I have to admit I'm still puzzled about what the optimum diet might be, if there is such a thing for most people. However I think we can be sure that the ICUs are not backed up with vegetarians. Or am i wrong?

I'm vegan and think you're being too tempered although I do like your skepticism, the resolve was not proficiently illuucidative of anything new. I'm honored that you care about human health, but I fail to see your point of introducing doubt and using a derogatory remark "Greger Land". That shit is not professional athoughI respect your expertise. Greger is much more experienced than you however, and I think you should spend more time learning from people like Dr. Greger. The special thing about him is that he empowers us to be keepers of our own welfare, and to show how much of a direct change we can create in our own lives, without being forced or manipulated into things that we do not understand. If you or someone could provide one new piece of information (other than to have doubt) then I would redact my critical assertion that this is inadequite presentation for someone that studies health to be presenting on any platform. Thank you

He's right and yet wrong. It is avoiding fattening foods like sugar and bread that makes you lose weight without dieting though, not eating some magic foods like potatoes and carrots. You will be much healthier if you also eat meat and eggs, but not so healthy if you stuff down some big macs.

I’m newly vegan, it does seem to me it’s easier to stumble into a “healthy diet” eating animal proteins and dairy. Rather than going into a vegan diet without any knowledge, which could easily lead to deficiencies and medical problems. If you eat nothing but Oreos and fast food fries you’re still going to be obese/suffer health issues. But I certainly think a vegan diet with a lot of beans, avocados, fresh berries and fruit, pasta, spinach, tomatoes, and yummy carbs if done right can be extremely healthy.

This video is misguided. It is true that the study you analyze doesn’t show whether weight loss or phytonutrients are responsible for better health outcomes, but there is a mountain of nutrition literature that shows beyond any reasonable doubt that a plant-based whole food diet leads to better health outcomes irrespective of weight loss. If you had looked at Greger’s years long research rather than just one Ted Talk you would see he regularly shows this. I say this is misguided because people love to hear that their bad diets really aren’t so bad, or that there really isn’t a dietary solution to their diseases, or that a plant based diet isn’t really better than the standard American diet, or really any diet that includes meat and dairy, when in fact a plant based diet is the best diet one can adopt for a range of improved health outcomes.

Refreshing, unbiased vid. Good job. A lot of vegans and carnivores are a real pain and are still in denial, even at the cost of their own, or others health. Cheers 👍

Truth is that any diet that gets you away from simple sugars, bread, and starch will help you feel way better. Check out “CLEAN KETO” because I feel awesome on it!

Apologies, I'm a bit late to the party. Do we know whether the weight lost by the intervention group was predominantly bodyfat or predominantly lean tissue, or did they not bother to look at that. And did the composition of the weight loss change from the 3-month mark to the 12-month mark?
