How to Setup the Light Dome III & Light Dome Mini III

Want to be up and running under 5 seconds? This video lays out the quickest and safest method for setting up your Light Dome III and Light Dome Mini III. Here, we show you three easy steps to get your modifier fully assembled.

Setting up your Light Dome:
1. Release the small latch to ease tension when pulling back clasp
2. Close the main clasp, pressing on the ground to reduce tension
3. Close the small clasp to complete setup

Disassembling your Light Dome:
1. Release the big latch, pressing on the ground to reduce tension

I always loved the quality of Aputure lights/softboxes but the only reason I a am not getting another lightdome again is that super ugly "lightDome III" lettering on the softbox..it just looks so amateuer and inconsistent from a design standpoint..Everytime I entered my youtube studio with the softbox installed I wanted to slap gaffer tape over it to hide it... it reminds me of how boomers would create a logo in microsoft word so please fire your graphic designer who did that and just add a sleek non-serif font that reflects the quality and professionalism of your products 😛

I just got the v3 and I think I prefer v2 more. I don’t like that I have to use the ground to assemble and disassemble this. I feel like overtime the front of the softbox will wear down and tear from rubbing on the ground depending if you are assembling on a rough surface from time to time. Also the v3 seems to not come with an inner baffle. Also no gel holder.

what different parts do you need to purchase for a light dome set up? I nearly bought a light dome and thought it came with everything lol

I picked one up. They are much bigger in person than I had realized. Not so easy to assemble. You have to pull the outside of the softbox down or else there is too much tension and you will never be able to close the latch. Additionally, I find that the velcro separates and it is not easy to align. Again, soft light, but it is HUGE.
