Home Depot definitely has some great options, even in Canada! Some things I don't think would do well in an enclosure because they dislike humidity and/or overwatering. Snake plants (dracaena) are better in desert enclosures because they don't require misting and prefer a dryer medium. Ivy are thirsty and fast growers but are pest magnets even in a humid environment, best to avoid getting spider mites on all of your other plants if possible. My chameleon loves his Philodendron varieties, both climbing and vining. Epipremnum and Scindapsus varieties also do well providing some vines and increasingly large leaves for coverage. Alocasia's love humidity and dislike to have the medium dry out too much so they're great for Chameleons. Even if they're not the most sturdy plants for climbing, a lot of them have leaves that allow water too pool on them and drip naturally for more hydration opportunities (Salazar uses a Dragon Scale or Pink Dragon for pooled/dripping water). Anthuriums would be the same and are also beautiful. Ferns are similar regarding care and coverage, but not something I use as most have thin, fragile leaves that are likely to be unnecessarily ingested more often. Orchids like Cattleyas or Dendrobiums have thick stocks for climbing and love bright light. Vandas (orchid) can be hung or mounted in the enclosure without medium providing insane visual depth as well as interesting coverage and climbing opportunities with the exposed roots. Owning a plant shop has definitely made building a great enclosure easier! Feel free to reach out to @Notanotherplantshop if ever you need some suggestions and I will be sure to help however I can!

We just purchased our first chameleon and my son named him limme. He has a basic cage with a few shrubs. We will support your site for info so please don't be upset with the questions we ask. We are new but very excited and are eager to learn.

This is super helpful. I just got a baby chameleon and will need some more plants for when he's older. ( He is like smaller than my pinky so I didn't get to many plants because I didn't want him to get lost.) Your videos have been super helpful for my research and helped me convince my parents to get him. Also he is the cutest little guy ever.

This is exactly what I was looking for, as I'm heading off to home depot now. And you answered my question about Crotons. Thank you! 🥰

My panther chameleon loves his umbrella tree. I have to prune it quite a bit because it grows so fast. I’ve killed a pothos, croton, and cane tree so far but the rest of the plants are looking great!

New subscriber here, I found you from the chameleon academy. Now after binge watching almost everything he has to say. I am now here. Long story short my daughter decided to buy her bf a baby panther. He does not want it, after finding out how hard they are to care for and expensive so I am taking him on Monday. I have had my fair share of reptiles growing up and as an adult, so I do have a lot of experience with reptiles. But never got a chameleon because of the care and I was worried it would die. So here I am getting a lizard I thought I was only dreaming about is gonna be a real life thing! I knew the common stuff, they don’t like held, they a more of a watch and enjoy type pet, and stuff about the humidity and uvb and heat. What I didn’t know was the night cycle for the fogger and misting, and the misting at night and cutting out the 3rd mist! And now my love for house plants can be shared with my new member to the family. Until this video I was ready to just add only pathos haha cause I didn’t realize the there were so many other options. And like in the video I thought a lot of these would not be safe because they are not safe for my other pets, and google is not always right haha, because I have been searching for a list of safe plants and they are all different, no list is the same some said fiddle dogs are bad, croutons are bad. I am just getting so many mixed answers! And like I said my worst fear is he will die. But I worry about that with my snake, and my bearded dragon and my fish lol, so there is that too. So I am going around my house now to make his cage beautiful. And Home Depot and lowes tomorrow:) I have a huge monstera actually a couple of them( like 5 haha) are the safe for him? I also have a brazil philodendron that is beautiful and is like a pothos will that work? Oh the possibilities! Your channel is great! Thanks for all the time and hard work you are putting in. I have a whole new confidence that I can be a chameleon owner and actually know what to do and how to do it! One day soon I will tag you in a tik tok or instagram so you can make sure he is doing great! Love your videos! Sorry this is so long. But I am a extensive researcher and never in my life have I had to take in so much in such a short period because of the situation. I am more of a research for a year have a cage running and stuff all perfect for a few months with no animal kind of animal keeper haha. So this to me is STRESSFUL. But i have the experience with all different exotic pets, just not this particular one… he was more of a dream pet until now. Eeek I am going to own a real life chameleon!

Great vid. Saved a lot of time looking up what each plant looks like and just making sure they are safe. Nice tip on the organic soil. I have two enclosures I'm about to set up - thanks for making it so easy

Another great video 🔥💪🏻. My Home Depot is loaded with Scheffleras (Umbrella Tree) so I think I'll use one of those for a centerpiece. They grow thick & have a lot of leaves for water drinking!

I live not far from my local nursery. I bought two potholes. They even have hostas. Unfortunately I might have wait for the spring or summer. That's when the garden centers are open up.

With almost 400, 000 species of potential plants, this will be a long video! Seriously though, it's much much easier to say which plants are unsafe that try to make a list of safe plants.

Is plant food safe to put in the pots in the chameleons enclosures? I LOVE the Pink Wandering Jews as a trailing plant! 💕
