Thank you Roy Chadwick for designing such a fabulous plane. I'm from Manchester and proud to know a mere 1080 of these planes were made there. Including S for sugar that did 137 sorties.

Greeting from Chicago, IL USA - Words fail to describe the majesty of these aircraft that helped bring freedom to so many and the valor of the brave souls who flew and crewed on them.

I live on the Wirral peninsula in a little village until recently a man named John Tait also lived in our village and he was a WW2 bomber pilot on Lancaster’s last year he was 95 and to make this occasion it was arranged for the only flying Lancaster in the UK together with 2 Spitfires that at the time where attending the Southport air show to do a tribute fly past and wing tip over his house, I have to say it was probably one of the greatest things I’ve ever see the came in low I’d say 500ft and all did a wing tip then turned an flew back to Southport the noise of those Merlin engines is just incredible and frightening imagine hearing 50 of them on a bombing run, my whole house shook, it a memory I’ll cherish... sadly thou John Tait recently died aged 96 he was a lovely man who I meet a few times in local pub RIP .

Great stuff!! Liked the magneto checks! Neat to see how my Great Uncle would have started his Lancs!👍His last Lanc was NF988. About five hours after t/o from Skelly the crew were nabbed by a night fighter, with only the tail gunner surviving. Great work they are doing at East Kirby, to keep such memories alive. Need to go visit again...perhaps for a taxy meself! 👍😊

My father piloted many raids in Lancasters until he was shot down by flak in 1945 over Holland. The plane was aflame and he was the only crew member to survive, in the panic the crew jumped without parachutes.

My Uncle Ivan flew this aircraft type, pic, during WWII. It was hell. Night runs and yanks during the day. RIP Ivan Crake. Michael Ivan Crake.

And amazingly there are no ignition keys which appear to be non existant as this is too big & complex for such nonsense & anyway such things never existed in those days!
