Mastering Documentary Editing: Crafting Compelling Stories with Conflict and Context

How to plan an edit a documentary so that it is engaging and doesn't take you years upon years to complete. My simple technique that produces quality results quickly and if working on a client project usually produces zero notes.

My workflow for editing a documentary film is so that I can make sure that I don't have any plot holes or unanswered questions and that my film makes sense.

This is a dope video! And so true. My first feature-length documentary took so long to finish! I had a pretty good idea of the story before hand as it was about my national championship basketball team in college, but I definitely didn't outline in advance. I did however, build a script from the interview transcripts. Problem was I was playing in the games, not filming, so the whole project was piecing together footage from other years, from different sources to pull the story together. It actually turned out pretty well, but boy it was a process!

Nice! Solid video and good advice, I took something from it. I think you could just talk straight to the camera when you're giving your ideas. You're comfortable in front of the camera so go for it! And you could even just change locations for each point, you see a lot of vlogger/tutorials do it. All in all, I see you want to make great videos and you're doing well!
