China Announces Military Drills In Taiwan Strait | Taiwan Tensions Flare | China Taiwan News LIVE

As Beijing sends warships and fighter jets to the Taiwan Strait, Chinese fishing crews who make a living from the narrow waterway say they are worried more about their livelihood than politics.

China launched exercises around the main Taiwan island on Saturday (April 8) as part of drills that will last until Monday (April 10) in response to a U.S. visit by Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen, deemed a separatist by Beijing. The Fujian Maritime Bureau has also announced live firing drills off the coast of the Fujian capital, Fuzhou, as well as Pingtan Island.
