Not just The Bible and Mesopotamia, there are mythical stories of sky deities battling giant reptilian monsters.
Such as
Ra vs Apophis
Thor vs Jormungander
Zeus vs Typhon
Susano vs Orochi
Baal vs Lotan
Tezcatlipoca vs Cipatli
and Indra vs Vritra

Kind of a shame that whenever Leviathan and Behemoth get mentioned, people rarely mention Ziz, the massive flying creature that dominated the air and completed a trifecta of sorts. It's not as widely known as the more famous Leviathan and Behemoth, and as a result, doesn't get as talked about. But when you find out about it, it makes discussing these giant legendary creatures even more interesting.

I’d enjoy more videos like this talking about a general monster or myth through multiple cultures. Great video👍

So, if the Leviathan is a primordial dragon sleeping at the bottom of the ocean...

Does that mean he dreams?

Your timing is God like I was just searching up videos of the leviathan just yesterday

I like to think that the Leviathan was a creature so massive and vast, that possibly all the different depictions of her may all be true, it’s just she’s too big for us humans to truly comprehend. Much like how an ant would have trouble comprehending us. Now on the matter of her being truly evil or not, I honestly think it’s more complicated. How can we truly understand a primordial creature of the ancient ocean, let alone assume it follows our understanding of morality?

Oh, would be cool to see the Phoenix or even the Fenghuang (called the Chinese phoenix) talked about too!

It sounds to me like the Leviathan suffers from the same affliction all folklore and mythological creatures suffer from. Whoever writes about them adds something or takes something away from them. Think of any monster we have now, the vampire or the werewolf for instance often have something changed about them depending on the culture or whoever is writing about them. For instance the werewolf could be subdued by a cross or some other holy instrument, but that has dropped by the wayside. In the past the werewolf could come out at all hours, but then the movies came along and they only came out at the full moon, and silver bullets could kill them and not much else - which isn't always the case. Even in the Bible which the writers might be drawing upon several different sources is going to be having the same problems with their monsters.

You mentioned leviathan and behemoth, could have also mentioned the ziz, the bird that is part of the trio.

I enjoyed this but it could have easily been a longer video.

Jormungandr of norse mythology, but perhaps most interesting, Apep, the chaos serpent of ancient Egyptian mythology.

So many different mythologies from so many different eras speak of the same being.

We still haven't explored all of the ocean, what if the Leviathan lie dormant still? Perhaps we will witness it one day. Pray not.

For so many cultures to have conjured up a gargantuan sea monster in their respective folklore, one can't help but wonder if it were indeed inspired by a long extinct species of sea creature, like how many also believe the Loch Ness Monster to be in fact a Plesiosaurus. Now I'm no expert on Plesiosauri and I definitely won't claim that they specifically were so widely spread that they appeared all over the world to inspire everybody's respective sea-demon, but I do think that some of the aquatic creatures we commonly associate with what we call dinosaurs (or at least their descendants) were still present in the days of early human civilizations and the classical period.

Out of all videos of leviathan, this one is the best.

I suspect the crocodile was one of the main inspirations for the leviathan's features, but as many here have pointed out, legends about great serpents are pretty common.

Nice! my favorite monster! I like to imagine it as a sea serpent, but the whale version is what inspired Kyogre, a legendary Pokemon that is part of a trio along with Groudon who is based off of the behemoth and Rayquaza who is based off of Ziz but is a Dragon instead of a bird

The only Leviathan I know of is the demon prince of Envy.

It is possible that the mate of Leviathan that God separated her from is Rahab, another Abyss dragon in Biblical Mythology.
