The SECRET Affair Queen Victoria Had With A Servant

Throughout her life, Queen Victoria experienced a huge amount of grief and upset. She was noted for being a woman who following the early death of her husband Prince Albert was plunged into mourning and she would wear black out of respect for her consort for the rest of her life and for decades following his death. Victoria was loved across Britain, and she is considered the grandmother of Europe and throughout her incredibly long reign on the throne, she had a number of servants who were very loyal to her. They would do whatever the Queen wanted and Victoria was known to have been rather sharp tongued at times, but there was one servant who much rumour has focussed around. John Brown was the Queen’s Scottish attendant who was her clear favourite. He was a man whose companionship was a great comfort to Victoria, and some including her heir and son the future Edward VII hated him, as they believed he was informal. He was a man who could get Victoria to do anything, regardless of the fact he was a servant, but many historians have claimed that John Brown may have had a more serious and romantic relationship with Victoria. But what is the story of this?

I'm sure she found it refreshing to have a person talk to her as normal.

I hope this relationship was true. One great love can end but that doesn’t mean we don’t deserve another.

I personally don’t think she had a full blown affair, but I do think they had a great affection or one another & a deep personal friendship. As others have said, he was probably the only person she could be herself with & he was probably the only person who could get her motivated to do things instead of living in permanent sad mourning. It is possible to love someone deeply without a sexual relationship.
Her son was a nasty small minded individual & a hypocrite.

Another one that should be worthy of a video about his relationship with Victoria is Abdul Karim….

No surprise here, on my part: a man in his kilt and Prince Charlie jacket is VERY hard to resist . Also, he was probably the only person to speak honestly to the high personage of Her Majesty.

Both Prince Albert and John Brown saved Victoria from a man wielding a pistol? I wonder how many attempts were
made on Victoria's life?

John Brown may have given his most prized possession (his mother's wedding ring) to Victoria as a token of respect;
as well as (possibly) as a token of marriage [btw: The marriage laws in Scotland were and (still) are different than in
England.]

It is suspected that Victoria had a prolapsed uterus, after her last pregnancy: if so, an intimate relationship was very unlikely!

(The same can be said for her Muslim servant from India ... Despite Judy Dench teasing the idea for the fictional film)

I think that they could have been married by vowing that they would be faithful to each other. They might have said this to each other alone in private. Only my opinion

At least she had a little bit of happiness after her husband passed.

Billy Connoly played John Brown in a film about their friendship...I haven't seen it in years but i remember it being very good.

Clearly the two had a strong friendship. As for an affair? Well, some actual evidence would be helpful. It all reeks of conjecture to me.

I get the feeling that she was lonely after her husband died. Also some what insecure. I don't think she actually had physical intimacy with John. I think she enjoyed his companionship and his attention to her.. he was very manly so that was probably attractive to her. Maybe he was very blunt and honest which would be refreshing to her.

She was so terribly lonely after her beloved husband Prince Albert died. I think it is good that she found someone to care about her and to have a close relationship with. Weather it was an affair or platonic relationship either way good for her.

It’s hard for people in our modern world to understand the values and morals of the Victorian society. The royal family itself, I would say, came from a strict Christian, Protestant/ Lutheran background. We wouldn’t recognise it today, because our society is more open, some would say progressive. We are looking at all this from our modern view. Britain became Protestant because they thought the Roman Catholic Church was in their view corrupted.

Most likely a platonic romance, not surprising given the deeply romantic relationship she had with prince Albert.... endearing friendship

Why cover half the screen with oversized print? Why put up a picture if we can only see half of it?

No, she did not, there is no proof she did.

Erysipelas, a bacterial infection caused by streptococcus, is what killed John Brown. It wasn't the drink, as you stated twice. He and his beloved friend Victoria enjoyed a wee dram together. She found him and the whisky to be most refreshing 😁
