Spotlight on Friesen Drillers

The Friesen name isn’t just on our trucks – it’s a long part of our family’s legacy. In 1892, our great Grandfather – at 15 years old – began working as a well driller in southeastern Manitoba. Initially digging water wells with picks and shovels, he eventually designed and built his own wood-framed drill rig. Friesens have been drilling ever since; our fourth generation currently runs the company and our fifth generation is working in the field. We’ve grown to more than 60 team members and have our main 32,000 sq. ft facility to maintain our growing fleet. But it’s all about staying true to our roots of helping people: bringing clean and safe drinking water to the communities that surround us. It’s why our shop includes a company historical museum with that original 130-year-old wood drilling rig, a 1936 Chevy, and various other reminders that honor how far we’ve come.
