Follow along with today's Photoshop tutorial to turn your pet into a renaissance masterpiece. We'll use a public domain oil painting of a 19th century Dutch General as the source, then combine some Photoshop filters to apply the painterly look to a digital photograph to blend the two images into a comedic portrait that is cute, surreal and hilarious at the same time!

Sad news from the Spooner household... Yesterday we had to say goodbye to our dog Jake 😢 He will always be remembered with this image taking prime placement on our kitchen wall

I've come back to this video at least 10 times over the last couple of years, I make these as gifts for friends & family. Thank you for the tutorial.

4:17 It's nice how you can customize the *ruff* -ness of the dog

Thanks so much for this. I was lost on what to get for a friend who just lost a beloved pet, but I was able to follow the tutorial and make the sweetest memorial tribute.

FABULOUS. Thank you so much, you are a wonderful teacher. What a gorgeous, noble hound Jake was. Was so sorry to scroll down and see that he's gone. So glad you have the image. Woof.

Have you ever found that you've been looking for years, and when you least expect it and you say all sorts of crazy things of your excitement. I was like " yes yes I love you I love you I love you....". You can imagine what people in the room thought when they heard me.

Hi, thanks for the great video. I want to get into this as an hobby....but just wandered which variation of Photoshop is sufficient to achieve this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bonus tip: You can use mixer brush to go over the dog for even more realistic looking brush strokes.

Can't belive that some sites are charging so much for something that can be done yourself. Thanks.

Great lesson, thanks! Usually I also draw the fur on the edges of the pet and add a shadow under it's head and ear(s). On this image I'd made less contrast of the dog's head.

Thank you so much for this! I wanted to get one of these for my Dad for Fathers Day but didn’t think he’d really want a canvas picture of it to hang (especially not for $50 and up!). This was a perfect tutorial and now I have a digital file I can print myself for a fraction of the price! I am an absolute beginner with Photoshop and your tutorial was very clear and easy to follow. I had to pause it A LOT to find all the things you were clicking on, but I got through it and I love the result!
