It is not the concrete. It is the construction. Concrete with waterproofing must be done properly-properly soil compaction/virgin soil, correct concrete specs for the water pressure and soil conditions, possibly concrete additives, steel reinforcing, curing, rubberised waterproofing etc. Liner ponds are simpler to construct, especially for the DIY enthusiast.

in my island there are a type of pool/ponds that don't ever crack they are called safreig the oldest back from 1849

What should I do with this. I'm not sure what happen.. I have a pump with poly fill running right now. Any help would be appreciated. I don't know how to add a pic but it looks like mud water.

I was a pool builder in Oz and we have more pools per capita than any country on Earth and I can say that this pond cracked due to poor design and construction
Built correctly, a concrete pond/pool should last for many decades

They have done concrete pools for ever they are just fine this one was done bad I bet if you guys sold concrete with your name on it you would push it for sale it makes great ponds and pools

My old home had a small concrete pond built in the 1930s in Midwest USA. Sold the house 2009. Pond was leak free. The concrete available then vs today is the problem. Today’s concrete is cheap crap.

The construction of that "Concrete Pond" is abysmal, to say the least! This has nothing to do with being a " concrete pond" it has to do with bad construction.

A bunch of moldy bolders & rusty water yuk....his property & backyard look a mess
