We Raced a Pro In His Own Car

Today we’re letting a professional racing driver have a go in one of our terrible cars and we’re gonna drive his fully prepped race car. If we don’t beat it, our car gets CRUSHED. Charlie is a pro racing driver who’s competed in Le Mans twice, so he knows what he’s doing. The car we’ve chosen for him is our £1500, 140mph and usually broken Vauxhall Zafira. Meanwhile, we are complete amateurs, and we’ll be driving a £100,000 fully prepped Ginetta racecar. We’ll each get a few laps to get used to the car and then we’ll have one final timed lap.

If you want to mod the Zafira, and want to get a little crazy with it - it shares an engine platform with the Chevy Cobalt SS and the Saab 9-3. Which means you can be the only people on earth with the 2.8L Holden turbo V6 out of a Saab 903/Cadillax BLS/Vectra VXR. Tell me this thing wouldn't rip with 400 horsepower being pushed out of it.

The Z20LEH is an extremely tunable engine, as is the Zafira OPC a tunable car.
You can get:
- full kit of Wössner forged pistons and rods right now for from Nevlock Performance
- upgraded gearbox with an added limited slip diff from Gear Lab for (or just the limited slip diff itself if you don't care about larger bearings and such)
- short shifter kit from BAF Motorsport
- boost silicone hoses kit from Roose Motorsport
- coolant silicon hoses from Speedcool
- H&R coilover kit from WinParts
- all UltraRacing chassis braces from VoorwindenParts and GT2i (there are more than 15 braces for the underbody, under the hood, inside the car, etc. and they make it race-car-like rigid)
