We Race The Pros! How Slow Are We?

Obviously professional cyclists are very very fast, but how much faster are they than us? We wanted to find out, so set up a race with UCI Continental Team, Ribble Weldtite. However, this isn't like any of our usual races, because this time we're on exactly the same equipment as the pros, so we can see once and for all, just how much slower we are than professional cyclists?!

What impressed me was how close they were even after being retired for awhile. Really good video, thank you GCN.

You blokes underestimated yourselves! You guys did so amazing with only 1:46 against pros! Well done !! Extremely Happy to be supporting GCN after watching that! Proud of you fellas

I am impressed by that - very roughly 10% or so slower on the same eqpt having never trained together aginst people who do that every day of the week. Impressed

Found this channel a couple of weeks ago and absolutely love it, i started riding 2 weeks ago to help me on a massive weight loss and health improvement journey, got myself some cheap gear and road bike to get started, loving it so far, some amazing vids to help me understand things better

I'm not going to mince words. The GCN boys were INCREDIBLE. OK, maybe I'll carry on a bit more. 😮 Sometimes, because of their self-depricating humor, us viewers may lose track of how amazing the GCN presenters are as cyclists. Even Ollie fakes us out as he is a climbing sensation. That's all I have to say. Carry on.

13:18: "I wasn't sure if it was going to be 5 minutes or a minute." Well, if I had been one of the GCN riders I'm pretty sure the gap would have been at least 5 minutes.

Seriously though, loved this video. Stunning effort from GCN!

These guys were averaging 43 kmph!!! (17 km, 23:26 time). That’s crazy!!!
Also I love the competitive fun here :)

Wow, what an effort by GCN! My "go to" ride is a 9 mile loop and very flat. Wind is the biggest variable on the ride. That said, my time can vary by two minutes. The GCN team should be proud of their effort, not to mention, GCN probably has a couple years on these young pros. I also appreciate the pro's for playing along.

As an avid amateur biker but staunch non-road biker I love your content. You’re bridging the gap between concrete and dirt and I love the videos you put out.

The GCN guys did great! Ex-racers still got spunk in them :)

What an effort of the GCN lads! Great job, they haven’t trained a TT together before - very impressive. No one’s got dropped! Very funny: James was immediately in “competitive mode” 😂

Those Ribble Weldtite boys are very good sports to do that. It was fun to watch!

This is my local loop, was great to see both teams banging around my patch! Some of the edits were out of order, then no one else would know 😉 super quick times guys. Much impressed. And thumbs up for coming up to the Fylde coast. I also loved your vid comparing the 4 Ribble bikes a year or so ago. You were in the Trough of Bowland that day, another area I get to cycle. And Si came back again with his Eddie Mercx replica. It's great cycling up here in the North West 🙂

It's interesting that only one out of the 3 pro riders actually rides the super duper highly advertised highly aero handle bar...

That was a good challenge. The GCN team sound train together for a month (2-3 times a week) and see if they could close that gap. This would show several things: the importance of team familiarity and how to maximize team strengths (and hide weaknesses). My guess is that you could cut the gap in half.
