18 Months of topical finasteride and minoxidil, my thoughts hims

minoxidil is toxic to cats!!!

Less of a review and more of long rant about using minoxidil and finasteride topical solution for hair loss in men. I have been using the HIMS version for 18 months - this is not an ad, just the product that I have used.

I hope you found this helpful - start the conversation more, I’m a big believer in honesty and sharing things with each other. The world feels less scary when we do, so it’s ok if you are loosing your hair, it’s quite literally science that men will lose their hair, so there’s nothing to be ashamed of and I challenge you to be more open with it.

Weirdly there was little about topic solution of minoxidil and finasteride online - so if you have any infroamtion I didn’t include please do pop it in the comments.

I used 5% minoxidil on my face and went from nothing, to a full beard in 2-4 years (4 years sporadically, or 2 years very consistently). Afterwards it has stayed permanently, don't need it anymore. Can't say anything for head hair though :)

I am on Hims 3 months, I have quite advanced receding hairline and thinning crown patch. I feel the balding patch is filling in, not much on the hairline yet but I don't expect it to come back.
Will update after 6 months. 🙏

I heard that the pill form of minoxidil can cause unwanted hair growth in other areas of your body that you don’t want extra hair. Such as back, shoulders.

just started. doing a combo of biotin gummies, the hims 4in1 topical spray and then this might be overdoing it, the 5% minoxidil topical serum.
i was doing a month or 2 months of the hims minoxidil 5% serum previously, and seeing definite improvements but my hairline is still not there. that's why i additionally got the 4in1 spray for the hairline.
also, way before the serum, i was prescribed a minoxidil pill and that initially gave me the weirdest dreams I have ever had in a while and I stopped because it made my arms and other areas way hairier than I wanted them to be and plus wasnt really significantly improving my situation.

Hey. Im almost 24 and Im looking into starting treatment for my male pattern hair loss and was considering the hims topical 2 in 1. I have a few questions if thats okay to ask:

1) Has it genuinely helped you and do you overall recommend it?
2) Is it a must to apply it every day, and if so, do you apply in the morning or night?
3) Do you wash your hair everyday to rinse out the solution or is that not necessary?
My reservation is that having to apply it everyday and making your hair feel greasy. Have you had that issue with this, and do you sleep with a bonnet or cap at night so that it doesn't mess up your pillow?
4) My last question is do you plan to use this indefinitely?

im confused one bottle costs £26 and lasts 3 months so why do they charge £156 for a 6 months supply when they only give 2 bottles that would cost a total of £52 if u bought them separately because thats dumbs

Hi John! Thanks for the video, I have pretty thick hair but have noticed some shedding and recession at the hairline. Did you notice so much shedding when you started taking the hims treatment? I want to get started to prevent it long term but I’m scared it will change the appearance of my hair in the short term
