I actually used some clear sewing thread and looped it through the lowest puncture hole and then through the adjustment tab and tied a small knot. So far so good and no damage to any parts of the bag

I brought my strap to a professional leather repair shop. He stitched the strap closed almost to the end. The thread matched perfectly and the problem has been solved. I know I can’t adjust the length again, but I knew I would always want it on the shortest setting. Hope that helps and gives you another option!
