Yes, fresh ginger juice works for me. I usually juice it and add 1/4 to 1/3 raw honey and mix. Then I keep it in the fridge, so I have it ready. It kind of ferments, but it doesn't make it less effective, probably more. And just like you said, I need lots of it. I usually drink it preventatively too, if I go work in the garden in the sun or stressful time. I think we could prevent migraines only with ginger if we could take 1/4 cup daily, but it is hard to do as it burns the mouth and throat. I tried ginger powder at 2 teaspoon dose and I didn't help me. But maybe I just didn't take enough.

This is so interesting. I had read the double-blind randomised control study where they used 1/8 of a teaspoon but I felt no effect when I took that dose. I then took half a tsp and didn't really feel anything but it definitely reduced it when I took a full teaspoon but I was worried that I was taking too much. I didn't realise I could take a full tablespoon in one go. Thank you for sharing this information!

I saw an article about a study which was done on 100 people where only 1/8th of a teaspoon was used, and it was as effective as a leading migraine treatment. I always have a bag of ginger with me, it's like crystallized ginger but not as sugary. As soon as I get the aura in my eye I eat a few pieces and it stops the aura in it's tracks usually. If the aura is too far advanced, it stops any headache from occurring. I would not be without it!

What dose in dry ginger as I have tablets and my son gets migraines. I have some chewable ginger extract tablets (20 mg extract 500mg dry) i will see if they work as doubt he will drink powder.
