The text for this video is from the chapter "The Hunt for the Ring" in Unfinished Tales. It's a great read! See below:

"The Ringwraiths therefore were ordered to go straight to Isengard... Two days after Gandalf had departed from Orthanc, the Lord of Morgul halted before the Gate of Isengard. Then Saruman, already filled with wrath and fear by the escape of Gandalf, perceived the peril of his standing between enemies, a known traitor to both.... "

To [the Witch King's] challenge and demands he received only the answer of the voice of Saruman, that spoke by some art as if it came from the gate itself. "If I knew where this thing was hid, I should not be here, but long gone before you to take it. There is only one whom I guess to have this knowledge: Mithrandir... seek him nearby"

Straightaway [the Nazgul] rode from the Gate and began to hunt for Gandalf in Rohan. Thus it was that on the evening of the next day the Black Riders came upon Grima Wormtongue as he hastened to bring word to Saruman.... In that hour Wormtongue came near to death by terror.

"Yea, yea, verily I can tell you Lord, " [Grima] said, "I have overheard their speech together in Isengard. The land of the halflings: it was thence that Gandalf came and desires to return... West through the Gap of Rohan yonder, and then north and a little west, until the next great river bars the way, the Greyflood it is called. Thence from the crossing at Tharbad the old road will lead you to the borders. The Shire they call it."

the Witch-King let Grima go because he thought the witless worm would turn on Saruman at some point, and he was right

Why did saruman not try to intercept the riderson their way back, as he would have thought they had the ring and he's far more powerful than the ring wraiths?

Why haven’t you posted in two weeks??? I’m re-reading the hobbit and have noticed so far Tolkien only refers to Sauron’s servants as “goblins” so far, the only mention of orcs is in reference to Thorin’s new found sword, the orcrist. Was there a difference? Or did Tolkien just not use the term orc until later? Mind, you I’m only half way through the hobbit and it’s been many years since I’ve read it last.

But one thing puzzles me a lot, why didn’t Sauron just use the Palantir he had to locate the Shire? Wasn’t it the purpose of a Palantir? To see far away stuff.

Gríma actually played a major role in the story of The Lord of the Rings prior to his first appearance in The Two Towers. In Unfinished Tales, Tolkien writes that on September 20 in 3018 Gríma was captured by the Nazgûl in the fields of Rohan, while on his way to Isengard to tell Saruman of Gandalf's arrival at Edoras.

❤️❤️❤️❤️

He was interrogated and divulged what he knew of Saruman's plans to the Nazgûl, specifically his interest in the Shire and its location, revealing the wizard's two-facedness towards the Dark Lord Sauron. Previously, the location of the Shire had been unknown to the Nazgûl, but they knew it to be the home of "Baggins, " whom they thought still had the Ring.

Wormtongue was set free, for the Lord of the Nazgûl saw that he would not dare tell anyone of their meeting and he guessed that he would be of much use to the Dark Lord (being a capable opportunist), while doing harm to the turncoat White Wizard in the future.

❤️❤️❤️❤️

The Nazgûl set out immediately for the Shire. Had the Ringwraiths not captured Gríma, they would instead have pursued Gandalf into Rohan, and possibly not have found the Shire until much later, giving the Hobbits and then the Fellowship of the Ring a considerable head start.
