Great job on the cabinet and finishing. It's really a pleasure watching you hone your cabinet making chops! Dealing with an experienced hardwood distributor will open up a whole new world for you. In most species you can even get pre-sanded, S4S face frame material in various widths, ready to cut to length and assemble your doors and face frames. It eliminates virtually all the millwork. The mills usually finish it out at 13/16" to 7/8" thick. Typically it's sold by the linear ft, instead of by the board ft like rough lumber. NEVER buy dimensioned hardwood from the box stores. What they sell as 1-by material isn't even a full 3/4" in many cases.

My favorite was the ending where you call out the keyboard ninjas. I enjoy your vids, and I’m learning a lot. Thanks.

I love your videos! However, I was hoping for more of a discussion on choosing the plywood for cabinets. Maybe a convo on the sanded ratings and a bit more on the box vs the frames and fronts. I’d love to see that video.

God - send me a man that talks/looks at me the way the Handyman talks to his cabinets!

Cabinet looks great, the color, well thats my wife's area of expertise. I am not allowed to pick out paint colors. Its better that way.

The title is misleading. You never specified which wood is "the best wood for making cabinets."

Love this series you’ve done on cabinet construction! Great job man 👍

Watching that struggle at the start to get the face frame lined up to the top of the opening reminds me of my last 15 minute struggle while wrestling clamps.

20 minutes after getting it on there I realized I could've flipped the cabinet over and attached upside down.

Great video, but the wink and devious smile at 10:07 was the best part! :)

Nice job brother its great when you take pride in what you do the end result will always be something that makes you proud. Keep up the good work. I learned of few things on your process and the tools used. Till the next one !

Nice tight work. Poplar or ash is best for paint grade...difference is you can get flat sawed, rift sawed or quarter sawed and your dealing with someone who knows something about wood. You can probably use their moisture meter and get a more dimensionally stable wood. Probably looking for 6% in our climate. Best applies to what your looking to achieve as an end result. I'm a fan of stain grade, doesn't get better than cherry and walnut if you got deep pockets
