HUGE 4FT ECOSYSTEM UPDATE & MAINTENANCE (no water change in 5 months) | MD FISH TANKS

The ecosystem tank has been a huge success but is completely overgrown. I deliberately put a lot of fast growing stems in the tank to ensure great water quality....problem is, they were a little too fast growing....

MD! It's your fault I've become an obsessed fish keeper. One 4ft and two nano tanks later I'm still learning because of you. Thank you so much 💚🖖🏾

After several failed attempts to have a live planted aquarium and wasted time, money, and material. I decided to go with an aquarium with artificial SILK plants and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT‼️ It’s beautiful and expensive, and doesn’t mess up my ph levels. No need for water testing kits. 🌱 🐠 ❤️

A tip to change your life with duckweed buy a hair pick preferably with metal tongs and that makes it super easy to get out the roots stick to the hair pick and is a easy way to remove excess from tanks

Good call on the mulm. Leaving it in that environment is the best thing you can do.

If you can find a 8- 10 ring that floats you can put it on the surface and put the saliva on the outside of the ring thus allow to grow on the out side. Then the ring allows light to get in the tank as well as a feeding area for the Fish. I have seen it being use across the internet for just this purpose. also try using a comb to pull the duck weed off the surface as it doesn't disturb the surface as much like a net does. Just a tip.

I’m new to having an aquarium got a couple of mollys, shrimp and snails in my 64 ltr tank. Love your videos and you have an amazing collection of beautiful tanks. Love it 😍

The Apisto eating the snail was admittedly funny. I had the same reaction when I tried neocaridinas with my wild bettas. Needless to say, they had a great meal that day.

love all your videos...question though - are you not supposed to shake the nitrate vial for a minute after adding bottle #2? I've gotten false readings not following the directions on the kit. Thank you, thank you for all you do, I love watching and re-watching all of your videos!

A good "Non Polluting" way to feed shrimp and snails in Nano Tanks is Cucumber (Organic is best, no residual pesticides!).

The method I use is to remove the skin with a peeler and cut into disks. (Saves you having to remove the leftover "Rings" later on.) I put them into a small saucepan and bring them to the boil and just very lightly simmer for a few minutes. (This may be optional.) Immediately afterwards put them in cold water to stop the cooking process. Once cold you can use them. Some people weigh then down with a stainless steel fork. Great for bigger fish such as Bristlenose Plecos but not really necessary for shrimp and snails. Leftovers can be frozen for later use.

(I have only used them boiled. They sink well. I'm not sure if raw ones will float or not?)

Pat them down with a cloth to remove excess water. Place them on something that you wont mind scratching then place in the freezer. I used one of those white plastic cutting boards last time. Once frozen prize them off with a sharp knife and then put them in a freezer bag. Try not to lose any fingers! To use them just put them in a cup with some water until they thaw then use them.

The snails will try to create a "Rudimentary Stargate" by eating out the center first. :-)

The shrimp will just swarm it if there are many in the tank.

I find they last a few days at most but "I Believe" that there is no decomposing cucumber issue as the shrimp and snails are always eating from the outside in.

Just a thought, you keep doing what makes you happy! :-)

PS. It is also an awesome way to catch a group of snails. Drop in the cucumber, next day it will be covered in snails! :-)
