My favorite hack to make a warm compress?

A rice sock!

In Pediatrics, one of the most common reasons we recommend warm compresses are for a stye on the eye, mild abscesses, or ingrown hairs. If your child’s doctor recommends a warm compress for any reason, remember to use a rice sock instead of a warm washcloth.

Rice socks hold on to heat longer than a traditional washcloth dipped into warm water. It can also be fun for your child to make it themselves.

Here’s how to make it:
✔️Take a clean sock and fill it with uncooked rice
✔️Warm in the microwave next to a mug of water for one minute. Some microwaves may require more or less time.
✔️Remove and check the temperature on your wrist before applying it to the affected area (make sure it’s not too hot!).
