Nvidia is In REALLY Big Trouble - AMD DESTROYS RTX
AMD finally unveiled their DLSS competitor Fidelity FX Super Resolution or FSR for short, and to the surprise of many it has exceeded our expectations. The technology at 4K looks nearly as good as DLSS 2.0, and it also doesn't get the same smearing issue that DLSS has leading to a great alternative to Nvidia's main buying point for RTX GPUs.

AMD Destroys RTX? These titles are getting out of control.

AMD intentionally allowed FSR to work on all hardware to gimp adoption of DLSS and get rid of DLSS as a selling point.

DLSS produces an overall superior picture due to how it works but it requires a lot of dev time and $ to implement. FSR is likely to win adoption because it is the only option for consoles and will pretty much already be included when devs port their games over to the PC market.

Here's a reason to be excited for FSR: next gen consoles are AMD. If it comes to the consoles, that would be a pretty significant boon.

Nvidia didn't get destroyed by this, they are getting carried, FSR on my 3090 is giving me 4k @ 120-130 fps on Godfall Epic settings.

I feel like we need to wait until fsr is in games people actually play

FSR is impressive, will work on consoles and iGPUs too.

Now all we need is GPUs to fall back to msrp, which should happen by october

My GTX 750 ti works with FSR. I've tested on Rift Breaker. In few minutes I will test Terminator.

FSR will kill DLSS just like Freesync killed Gsync. It doesn't need to be better than DLSS. If it's easier to implement and it's available in a wider range of hardware, developers will for sure implement it and the number of titles that support it will grow very fast.

I think FSR has a way to go to match DLSS 2+ (there's a good keynote on the tech). It lacks the temporal motion vector elements. Also, DLSS 2 doesn't have as many hurdles as DLSS 1 to implement because they removed the training requirement .. it's a generalized model now. That makes it way easier to integrate for game developers, so there's not much of an advantage to FSR there either. Going to come down to who the studios partner with (or who Nvidia bribes).

FSR also has the issue doing subpixel scale ratios (e.g. 1.3, 1.5, 1.7, 2.0), that can introduce blur because you're trying to approximate a pixel (2.0 would be the recommended one, as it keeps 1:1 mapping).

I personally hope AMD evolves FSR some more, competition is good.

I have seen the image quality and I'm going to disagree on FSR looking as good as DLSS 2.0 but just the methods of implementing DLSS and the fact it can't be used on consoles means that FSR is likely to be the widespread standard. This gen it looks like Nvidea implements a graphical rendering technique with their cards and AMD actually makes it usable on more than 20 game releases

FSR will be the standard on consoles and pc for all gpu including nvidia gpu :)

Lets not forget a large amount of games are initially developed for consoles and then ported to PC. Consoles run on AMD hardware and thanks to having access to FSR it enables developers focus on it rather than DLSS. That means game is optimized for FSR, that is an absolute win for everyone. It even forces Nvidia's hand by improving next gen GPU more than ever.

Destroys how ? AMD is doing Nvidia a favor, RTX is still a better option since you can get both DLSS and FSR and better Ray Tracing Performance.

I have to give props to AMD for making their tech non proprietary. Not sure it was a good move for them, but it was definitely a good move for gamers.

That being said, it doesn't hurt Nvidia at all, since their GPU's are supported as well. It actually gives those of us with Nvidia GPU's the advantage of being able to use either tech when it's available.

FSR is about getting you some extra frames no matter what resolution you're on, imo. If you have a 1440p screen, you go 1440p and ultra settings and have 20 more fps. For some that can be a make or break thing depending on their graphics. Plus, since it's coming on consoles as well since those are AMD, that gives AMD a huge edge for getting support for it in games.

But it's added per game/program. So simply turning it on does nothing? Unless it's one of very few supported

Quick question… so If I buy an RTX that means I’ll have FSR and DLSS… however if I buy the AMD gpu I’ll only have FSR correct? 🧐
