Pro tip: active practitioners often superglue the tsukamaki knots in place. Keeps it from fraying and moving around causing blisters.

How many people are here cuz they’re actually making a sword?

I watched a couple videos about wrapping katana handles, and i wondered why this guy did it so differently. Then i tried and, and I realized he made some adjustments because paracord is a lot different than traditional wrappings. It worked pretty well for me. The only thing I did differently was to flatten the paracord with an iron on medium-high heat so it acted more like leather or flat silk. anyways, great video!

Ok but what about if you're wrapping something that doesn't have a hole at the end?

I'm not making swords but I was interested in how the handle is wrapped. Awesome looking spoon!

Hi, I would like to use this technique to wrap a tennis racquet handle. However, there is no hole at the bottom of the handle. Is a hole necessary? Thank you 🙂

I'm making a copslay prop using a wooden sword, and like a lot of people mentioning in teh comments, it doesn't have the hole in the end. But, I'm making the piece with two holes that covers the end (forgot the name, I'll edit this when I find it), and I'm not sure how the wrapping works in that case :/

Thank you! This helped me a lot, and elastic works pretty well too.

I have a question for you about the wrapping technique
Does it at all matter from witch side it's started from or is it a directional pattern
So right ? or left ?
Thank you in advance

Very nice Tsukamaki. but... Please remember that when wearing a Katana in your obi, or carrying it in your (Left hand when expecting to use it - Right hand to show your host that you have no aggressive intentions.) hand the inside of the curve faces down, the outside of the curve faces upward, especially when displaying them horizontally. This keeps the blade edge off the inside of the wooden Saya, (sheath). Classical Kenjutsu, either from a standing or sitting posture, always draw the katana with the edge facing upward.

Sewing pins! Idea just popped in my head. They might work better than a clamp

is there a knot you can use if your knife doesnt have a whole at the end?

there it was necessary to put 2 loops smaller in diameter under the ribs. at the end, look at them. twist the 2 ends of the cord. and then tighten these pets under the winding. and pull out these loops of a smaller diameter.

You need support for your spoon at either end but an open area underneath it in the middle. then you could place your clamp from underneath and it would not be in your way.

Always wondered how that wrap was done. Thanks.

Side note: any updates on the hat? I imagine that it will take awhile to do so I wanna get started soon. Lol

Great tutorial! Thank you! What did you use to wrap the katana that is pictured in this video? The green wrap. I like that it’s wider. Is that available on your website? I only see 650 coreless paracord.
