it's so weird when you're a native Russian speaker and everybody is just saying how hard this language. You are just like 'Well, is it?" lol

Я редко понимаю, что говорят англоязычные блогеры, но ты так хорошо произносишь слова, что я все поняла
Спасибо за полезное видео 🙂

When you're not an English native speaker and you're learning Korean (or other languages) you end up speaking more English that the actual language that you were learning

I'm trying to learn spanish and korean. I'm brazilian so spanish is pretty similar to portuguese, which makes everything more complicated, I can understand spanish a lot but I don't know where to start studying 'cause it feels like I know everything and nothing at the same time, weird feeling

I am learning English, and I am so proud of myself for understanding 90% of what you said. However, my native language is Portuguese, and someday I will study Spanish. If someone can give me tips for my English I would be glad.

How I learn 4 languages
1-Portuguese, my native language
2- French, i moved to France when I was 3 years
3- Spanish, most people who speak Portuguese can understand Spanish, and my mom love telenovelas and I watched with her
4-English, I love USA movies, during all my life I saw movies with subtitles
Bonus: I can understand Italian and German but i can't speak, now I'm learning japonese and Chinese
Nice video ☺

For Chinese:
- HSK books and textbooks
- watching films/dramas/anything in chinese
- listen to chinese songs (their old song are SO beautiful, and if you want to listen to smth modern - escape plan, jj lin, kris wu, wayv)
- you definitely should practice your pronunciation out loud a lot of times and compare to speakers (hsk books will help)
- you should write characters with your own hand to memorise them
As for duolingo, it might be helpful for practicing and checking vocab (grammar isn't always right)
В общем и целом - учиться, учиться и еще раз учиться, в смысле, practice :)))

I’m learning Russian and I’d share the way I study it. Listen to music, print the lyrics (make sure is music you like so you’ll listen to it often) try to sing along you’ll see how your listening improve so quickly. I watch кухня it’s a really fun show. And it has subtitles in Russian and English. I watch an episode and select couple words (select words or phrases that you consider useful) do not try to memorize everything.
Get a book. I have two Russian books, both of them are for beginners (even though they have a lot of words) it will help you to practice and the most important thing, the more mistakes I’ve made while reading the easier it’s been for me to remember/ memorize words. Find someone who’s native speaker. I share a picture of a paragraph from the books with them, have them read them for me so I know the entonation and then after one day of practicing I read it to them, they give me feed back and help me understand the context of the paragraph if I need to. I watch many YouTube videos In Russian even if I don’t understand anything. You need to emerge yourself in the language. After all the practice you will start understanding some words, then phrases little by little. :)

Русский язык ещё та жесть. Ни за что бы не начала его учить, если бы родилась где-то в Европе.
Но главный плюсом русского языка является богатый на слова мат, брань (ладно, шучу). Первый плюс это красивые и разнообразные эпитеты, метафоры, ну а второе то, о чём я писала выше:)
Удачи в изучении иностранных языков!

I feel the same way with Korean. I first started because of kpop but know I just really enjoy the language and don't even listen to this kind of music anymore

Could you maybe talk about the Spanish shows you've watched? Or maybe just music, movies and shows that you watch to practice your languages

All in all, if you made it this far then I commend you because wow my 话 (hua2, words) really is 很多 (hen3 duo1, a lot), and tbh I have so much more to say and could go on about this forever, but yeah! That's my feature length novel with my advice for Chinese beginners! Definitely feel free to ask any questions or reply to this comment if you're interested in more resources, I can dig around in my brain archives for what I used when I was first starting out. I'm excited for you and for everyone who is starting their Chinese language journey, and I hope that y'all can enjoy it just as much as I do :D

Today, I learned a new word: "collocations." I have been living my life entirely in English for over 20 years and have never heard this word before, despite reading a lot.

Despite talking cartoonish, the characters in Peppa Pig talk clearly and I understood the majority of what they're saying.

It took me a while to find the playlist with both English and Mandarin subtitles - Let me know if you guys need the link.
