Is Poverty Point Much Older? & The 3900BC Lower Jackson Mound

My first video on Poverty Point in a year and a half. Maybe the most important site in ancient North America....is Poverty Point much older than the standard dates we have been given for it's origin? A look at the nearly 6,000 year old Lower Jackson Mound just south of the PP site and a quick look at the Motley Mound to the north.

Very interesting Chuck! The two different geological features you've pointed out and the fact the original earthwork was most likely of a circular shape that could've been destroyed by an enormous flood really makes me wonder... I would be lying if i said my thoughts were not immediately focus towards the end of the Pleistocene...🙄😂
Thanks for another fascinating report, it's always appreciated. Peace👊

Really enjoyed this video Chuck. I am one of those that entertain the notion that the rings/ridges were once circular or circular with an opening/gate aligned to a significant celestial event. Whatever the case, it’s truly an impressive display of work! What’s left of it that is. Keep up the great work old pal! 🙏🏼💪🏼

Hi Chuck I’m a fan of your work and have been a subscriber for a while now. I came across something pretty cool on Google Earth the other day and wanted to share it with you. It’s an island called Mindemoya, which is known as the largest island in a lake on an island in a lake, LoL and if that wasn’t strange enough the island looks exactly like the shape of a duck or some bird. With a tail, body, head, wings and even feet! Im sure you can find it through google maps, I believe it’s also called Treasure Island. The area is rich with history, spanning back to Paleo and possibly further! I hope you find it as interesting as I did! Have a good day!

At 6:33, I think I'm seeing a possible alignment with Orion's belt. The Lower Jackson, Mound A, and Motley appear to line up.

I’m sure there are already satellite images taken of that area that will show older, previous river beds and may even be able to image ancient structures that could still be there. I was just reading an article showing satellite images taken of the Mississippi River that revealed how much its channel has changed over time. It said the point at which the Mississippi flows into the Gulf changes around every 1000 years. That’s just an instant in geological time so there’s really no reason to believe it couldn’t have happened at Poverty Point.

Thank you for the very deep dive into an incredibly niche topic I can observe to allow myself to feel superior to everyone around me who don't have the free time or interest to devote to this study.

Just kills me how many mounds we have destroyed and covered up just so we could build over them !!!!

Another job well done by you. I am finding a lot of similarities between the Poverty Point Culture and the Mound Builders along the Sabine River Basin in Northeast Texas and would like you to compare some sites. South-Southeast of Longview Texas and just Southeast of Easton Texas is the Hudnall-Pirtle Archaeological Site. This is one that has been held from the public but appears to have been the central village of the Nadacco Tribe ( a Caddoan- Mississippian Site). These sites are very similar to the Poverty Point Site. There are a few archaeology reports on the web concerning this site. Early explorers Pedro Vial visited the village of the Nadaco in 1788 and about 30 years later the Marez expedition went there. It was a large site with many occupants but disease hit the Nadaco people and they later moved to a reservation but only a few survived. It is a great story that you could document for the future. There are a good number of very high man made mounds in the Sabine River flood plain that need further investigations as they are obviously built by the same cultures.

It’s older. For sure the circle was Whole.
The land in the missing part seems to show markings that complete it.

Those weights with holes might be for hunting with Bolas or Yo-Yo’s.

Good points on dating and alignments!
It’s interesting that alignments older than the pyramids seams to be off 7-14 dagrees. It’s worth taking another look on that video about the equator 12, 500 years ago.

I would love to see LIDAR of this area like they've done in the Yucatan for the Mayan cities. The extensive Mayan structures were 800 times more numerous than they ever thought. These structures in the Eastern US are different.
