OH MY GOD! You just saved me so much time and money, was going to take the whole tranny out on my 1989 town car, after watching your vid went to chek on that and cable was loose! I put a tie-rap to hold it in place while the bushing is in delivery and works like a new!! Thanks a lot!

It took a long time to find this information on the internet, but thank you so very much. I watched and immediately looked at the TV bushing. Yup - rotted out. Clear and concise. I will replace the bushing and hopefully it will correct the problem. It should, I a have babied my 1988 Mustang GT Convertible - 62, 000 miles.

I had a 92 Crown Vic (yes, built pre Feb 92) where the TV cable snapped for some reason. I felt it right away in all gears, everything was slipping, and I knew to baby it until it could be replaced. Popped the new one in, adjusted acording to the manual, no problems. A coworker of mine has an 89 and had the same problem, and no matter how much I emphasised how important it was for him to get it fixed, he continued to drive it for like a week. I forgot how bad he smoked it, but it cost him about $2500 for the rebuild.

I had a kinda odd instance with the TV cable on a '88 Town Car I have. I bought it from the previous owner who thought it needed a transmission. Turned out that the TV cable had hung up (guessing after the throttle went WOT) and the cable itself stuck out and wouldn't retract. After working the cable and freeing it up, all seems well now.

1992 Ford Crown Vic. Mine's held together with rubber bands. Seems to shift ok. Been like this a couple years now. Had no clue till just recently what it was called, so I haven't been able to fix it. Hopefully I can find one online. It runs rough when lightly accelerating but smooths out the more gas you give it. Could this be the reason?

So I have a 90 f150 that i was checking the engine on, I tried to reverse, but i only had the throttle cable hooked up not the tv cable. Now the truck wont go into any gear? Did I destroy the Transmission?

I have had several 87to 93 Mustangs over the years mainly autos since i had a really bad injury to my foot when i was younger and i have a hardware store in my foot so i prefer driving autos, anyhow modifying these cars, installing intakes etc i had to deal a lot with the TV cable, needles to say i lost dozens of those little cotters that hold the bushing, boy they are not easy to find, as you pull it out with pliers or a pick have a magnet close by or a towel below it.

What i discovered after much trouble is that installing that bushing on top instead of bottom works much easier and better, why is that? dont know.

So instead of going thru the bottom small side first i invert it (flip it) and go thru the top, fits like a glove, i might add that was mainly always on aftermarket throttle bodies, i think they have a chamfer and thats why its so hard to stick them from the bottom, figure this might help someone out there.

My 07 Impala is only going forward in manual 1 and 2 and it also moves in reverse, just not drive. I took a long drive low on trans fluid, could my forward band be broken?

I had the same problem with my 92 mustang . I caught it and reattached the cable. Does the cable have to be adjusted or recalibrated after it being disconnected? I drove it after a reconnected the cable, and it's still not shifting into gear at about 30-40 mph.

Just picked one up on eBay for my 1991 LTD Crown Victoria 5.0. Was not downshifting and AOD was not working right. Lo and behold the bushing was gone after peaking under intake. Replaced it with metal one.

It should be a law for company’s to give a book out for potential faults and dumbass designs and major design failures because they built the cars while drunk and high on something. I’m just learning this and I drove my mustang like this for a while but I still somehow have 4th or OD.

Hmmmm...this maybe what is dicking with my throttle body on a 93 aerostar cause that cable attachs to the throttle cable. And Ive been having issues with it popping into overdrive...I didn't do the math on that one. Thanks

Lincoln town car looks like it's a little harder to find. There's some play in the secondary Springs But I don't know what's intolerance and I can't see any grommet either
