Day 4001: We have all this, but still no sign of movable block-entities...

They should keep the dot, but allow the texture to change if the dot detects if a block it can connect to is adjacent to it.

ilmango: "That's actually interesting! It just got 0-ticked!"

Mojang: wait that's illegal!

I agree with the spirit of these changes, but I think if they are committing to changing redstone in this update they should have gone all out and made it so redstone intelligently connects to functional blocks. So if you place redstone all by itself its a dot, but if you place pistons around it it becomes a cross, or a T if you place three pistons, etc.

We're gonna miss you, redstone bloodstain.

4:37 So they changed a redstone mechanic to match its visual behaviour instead of changing the visual behaviour to match the redstone mechanic? Sounds pretty backwards to me.

It's risky every time they change redstone, sure it's supposed to be easier for new players, but most new players stay away from it until they know more about it, so I don't see the point in changing it.

The only thing I miss about the old Redstone dot, is that blood splatters look really dumb now. Probably just a visual thing, but it is what it is, lol.

They changed redstone for those who have no idea of how redstone affects and powers blocks.
Years of academy training waisted. Finally i have learnt how it works and they change redsrone

As soon as I saw the change log, I said "I'm going to wait until ilmango explains this."

I am not a huge redstoner, so I don't know what to think. Making things look like they are supposed to connect seems reasonable, but if it breaks a lot of stuff... I dunno.

I love all the changes except the slab/glass redirecting the dust. In my opinion Mojang could make glass redirect because it does visually but make slabs not redirect. That way slabs and glass would also be functionally different which I think would be cool

I really hope they change them back, I already saw a video of contraptions breaking. I also liked the dot better for building.

I feel like the one that you didn't like as well is just removing a feature and not fixing anything. It was cool having a difference between a full block and a glass block there

Everyone's talking about how they prefer the dot, couldn't you just get a texture pack for that? Seems pretty insignificant compared to the behavior changes to me

For the last redstone change, I like the idea of when you use the slab it would still point the redstone like it did in the old versions. But if you use glass, it would turn and not power the piston in your example. Thus you can pick the one that fits your needs 🙂

This is really gonna suck for all my builds. I’m gonna have to do a lot of reconfiguring and head slamming
