What is a manipulative? Why is that kind of language introduced into math that has nothing to do with math? What happened to terms, variables, expressions or factors etc.? No wonder the U.S. has dropped to barely in the top 50 in the world when they used to be near the top. A "young" person was giving me change the other day, for a small purchase, from a twenty and they tried giving me back more than what I had given them. I tried to correct them and they laughed at me like I was the stupid one. I then asked for their supervisor and gave them the extra I was given back and they were confused. Our future is not bright when you complicate simple tasks. KISS has always worked and always will. I don't know what this is.
