Easy Fix for Google Maps Missing Start Button, Only Has Preview

If the video does not work try the following: 1) Long hold on Maps icon on homescreen 2)Choose "App Info", 3) Choose "Location" select "Allow all the time or "Allow only while using app". Reopen maps and see if it works.

Thanks for the work-around to this issue. Sadly, this start button issue has been going on since Android Marshmellow. One would assume a well know issue like this would have been fixed with the hundreds of updates since. To make matters worse, a recent Maps update (July 2022) crippled the app. After clicking START, a blank white screen appears requiring to kill the app in the settings. Downgrading it to a previous version via Uninstall option got it back up and running again. Others complain of this in the reviews of the app in the Google Store.

Man thanks to your video I was able to get Google Maps to show the blue "START"... They need to change that and not make it so hidden. I have been using GPS for about 10-15 years now and I was stuck in my car unable to drive & that is ridiculous...
