first thanks for the great effort, why you compare the value of (400/d) ¼ with 1 ? the BS8110 mention that in table 3.8 it should not be taken as less than 0.67 for members without shear reinforcement;

Dr. S. El-Gamal, why not include the weight of the soil above the footing to find its area? Is it not, soil above footing increases the stress on the soil below the footing?

Is it safe to exceed the bearing capacity of the soil as in this example?
Also, why didn’t you consider the weight of the footing in calculating the soil pressure at ultimate limit state?
