Very important teaching thank you. I used to love horror films. I loved violent films too. I loved any dark, sinful film really. Since God has begun working sanctification in my life, my desire for that kind of content has disappeared. I think it can be helpful in assurance of the faith - to look back and see how God has turned our hearts away from the old things and toward His good and lovely things.

No matter what your opinion may be, you will feel much better watching something wholesome than watching something violent or frightening. There‘s a reason for that.

I think The Exorcist is one of the most Christian movies I have ever seen. It provides a warning against dabbling in the occult, and shows that God wins in the end.

My wife and I watched the first two episodes of Stranger Things 4 after being excited for it to come out.
But after, my spirit was not in agreement with it at all.
I told my wife I wasn’t interested in watching it anymore, she obliged.

It really does not matter what any of us think. All that matters is Gods word. Gods word makes this very simple and does not leave any room for debate. 1 Thessalonians 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.

I think it's also important to understand the two realities. Fiction and Real Life. When I see horror or anything gory or whatnot, my mindset only goes to that fictional reality. I know irl that the people who die n stuff are never truly dead in those movies, or that those I kill or get killed or see killed in a game isn't real. It's all an act and art. It never changes my sensitivity toward the real thing and it's never prepared me for such things.

Not even the Bible prepares you of the horrible physical sights of gore n stuff since you're only reading it. And that's history of true things. Even the news can't prepare you. The only difference is you know it's real, unlike a movie with actors.

Now this isn't to say all is fine. P*rn is definitely a media you should never get involved in since the intent is for you to do more than just be entertained and people's lives have been ruined by watching it, especially at an addicted level. For example. Or shock sites that have videos of real murders, executions, etc (unless it's for educational purposes I guess but that's where the line is drawn).

Paranormal movies are a no no for me. I had to close my mind to them. I am very sensitive to these types of movies. Back in the day I was a horror movie freak but no longer. 🙏😇

If you read the old Testament, it's quite gore too, life in those times was really hard. I don't think that Joshua was shocked by violence.
We don't look at it at the first degree, that's why it's forbidden to young people.

My sister majored in history when she was in college. And I remember her saying, two of the major factors that destroy or brings down a civilization was: lack of or degrading of morality and violence. That's what we're witnessing worldwide, especially in America. There's an increase of moral decay in our country and along with the increased entertainment of violence. It's no wonder our society is crumbling.

I don’t mind horror movies. As an actor, I can really appreciate from an artistic perspective how things are made, that allows me to enjoy them. If, however, you feel that the movie isn’t good for you then switch it off. Paul does say that make sure everything you do is for God’s glory and if you aren’t sure what you’re doing is good (he uses eating food as an example), then don’t do it.
