I used to be a hypochondriac and was constantly worried I had some life threatening disease. Ironically I'm chronically ill now but nit as worried about my health in that way

I suffer from GERD, which is in itself kinda harmless. However, it causes chest pains (in the esophagus), which is enough for me to think I’m having a heart attack and trigger a full on panic attack.

But still, listen to your body. Everyone was telling me there was nothing wrong and to not worry about it. But I went to the doctor anyway and found out I had a tumor that progressed to stage 4 cancer. Luckily I'm in remission, but I would have died if I didn't listen to my body.

I am in recovery from this. What has helped me the most is ERP based therapy for OCD.

Learning mindful observation helped me so much with health anxiety. It did a lot to help me get over those overwhelming fears, worries, and racing thoughts that come with health anxiety. If anyone's interested I just posted a video on this topic, but you can find about it through Google or other youtube videos as well, I hope this helps someone reading this comment 🙂

Also, balance this with listening to loved ones and yourself. We thought my sister had health anxiety her whole life - then the spinal puncture revealed it was MS. (Huh. You really *were* blind for a while!)

Nothing is impossible with God, we can overcome all this mental health problems...but we need to accept that we are mortals and will Never escape death. What's important is our Faith in God so that when we die we can live again and be with him forever.

.me right now and I have my degree in Behavioral psych Counseling. I know this stuff. I've battled anxiety since I was little. I have tons of education and knowledge, but always open for more. I'm currently not on anything for anxiety, but having a lot of major health problems that have done just this to me currently and I hate it. 🙃 Constantly trying to remind myself that I'm fine. I need a break from myself cause I'm driving myself crazy! 😜😂🤣

Thats what happens to me. My rib hurts for like a 1 day and im afraid i have a tumor. I have i red spot and i think i have HIV but its just a mosquito. And my chest hurts all the time but because of the anxiety im getting from it😢

Apparently, this can overlap a lot with OCD. I've shown strong signs of both, especially the latter, but I don't know how to bring it up to my psychologist. I discussed OCD with her once but did quite a poor job of explaining myself.

my cycle begins with oversharing though.. i just need to slip attention for whatever reason, could even be the adhd shenanigans there.. but after that, and i have a lot unwanted memories, those tend be too present.. then i need immediate emotional help, can't fix stuff, so stuff gets crunched back into nirvana and only that triggers a health anxiety episode... but in the long run? i dunno, general depression? perhaps a few sub clinical personality disorders? stuff like that. and maybe an increase in s3xual related things, also at least one major problem (s3x pressure) and another more situational one (increased libido).

i understand that s3xual stuff has a purpose and things, but it's also annoying how my body tries to literally succumb my mind whenever i overdid it with thinking stuff.

i still would like to focus onto the original layers of problems.. the adhd shenanigans specially the friendship problems and the learning/practicing problems.. still there, still annoying..

and it doesn't help, that i talk and chat so much.. i feel like my mind is too busy these days.. i miss a million points per therapy session and even though we were like talking 6 months, he barely can know about my problems... i dunno what we talked about anymore, but i remember having felt pressured on my own for nearly all sessions, always using up too much time, etc... he also made like 3 pages of notes each frickin day... and that's hardly enough.. i'm full of problems, the well can't even dry up so bad it's like..

I'm curious as to how this new "internet therapy" differs from telehealth sessions / video sessions with licensed therapists. This is my first time hearing about an internet program that delivers therapy...without a therapist???
