Messi deserved the 2023 Balon d'Or here's why Haaland yes he won the Champions League and FA Cup but he did absolutely nothing to help Manchester City win even ghosts in the most important matches unless he gets an assist from de Bruyne he can't do anything, Messi, on the other hand, carried Argentina to win the world cup by scoring in every game including 2 goals against France he was given MOTM every game he was even given the Golden ball he saved Argentina from getting knocked out of the world cup by scoring against Mexico not only he scored but he brought Argentina's confidence back when they lost their first match against Saudi Arabia if stats are much important than carrying your team to winning the most popular, most watched and most rare event in world football. then give Messi the Balon d'Or in 2016 2017 and 2018 there is a reason why the Golden Boot Award was made it is given to the top scorer to be labeled as the best player in that season you must do more than just score the most goals and provide the most assists
