Before (big block) gasoline engines go away, I wish Ford would make a 7 liter version of the Coyote engine. Use the same bore and stroke as the 427 FE. Yes, it would be bigger and longer than the current engine, but at roughly 780hp and still driveable, it would be the meanest naturally aspirated crate engine ever.

I’m not a Ford guy by any stretch however it’s impossible to ignore how good the coyotes are! Those 10r80’s are nuts too

I've driven both.
The 6.2 pushrod v8 Chevy makes is great for low rpm grunt work, endless torque on demand to where you'll find yourself doing hillclimbs without dropping a gear.
The Ford 5.0L is great to play with at mid to high rpms and never feels short of breath.
Both have positives and negatives. But at the end of the day, you won't be disappointed to own either of them

Both are great engines. They just use different philosophies. I love the "do more with less cubes" from the ford. I also love how responsive the LS & LT engines are from very few mods. Whichever side your heart aligns with, you should be thankful for the competition always upping the ante. Because we ultimately benefit from that with a big grin every time you mash that go pedal.

The Voodoo engine is probably the greatest engine made to date by an American manufacturer. Powerful, high revving and an intoxicating exhaust note. It left it's mark on every auto manufacturer, both domestic and import. The GT350R is one of the quickest naturally aspirated cars on the Nurburgring ever.

This is the most genuine unbiased comparison of the two motors I think I've ever heard both have their advantages and disadvantages but in stock form they do the job they were designed for good job I learned a lot thanks

Really great video. I own all three engines LS, LT, and coyote. All 3 are great but I just love the simplicity of the LS. Glad to see you are an engine guy with an open mind and not just a fan boy. That is hard to find these days.

I'm a lifelong GM guy and have had numerous small blocks through the years, but the Coyote really is an impressive engine. And it's hard to top what those can do with a Whipple bolted to the top of an otherwise stock bottom end.

I've had the pleasure of owning cars with both the LS and LT, as well as the latest gen Coyote and the Voodoo 5.2L in my GT350R. I must say this is the best explanation of these motors that the common enthusiast can understand without being an mech. engineer. Well done. New sub.

One note about the voodoo that makes it even more special than you describe: In your picture the crank journals are Up, Down, Down, Up all 180 deg. from each other. This is what all flat plane crank V8s are designed as. However the voodoo is Up, Down, Up, Down. Google a picture of the voodoo crankshaft. This makes it a bespoke design that is sort of a mix between traditional flat-plane and cross-plane. It truly is a special engine and unique piece of engineering that we might never see again.

I am almost done with my degree to be a powertrain development tech and have gotten to take a few coyote motors apart and the older DOHC cobra motors and as much as I have gained respect for them I still don't want to deal with 4 cams and all that timing and the heads can be really tedious if you do not have the skills or experience on these types of motors. I think for simplicity and for someone looking to learn easily on a motor and make really good power without spending gobs of money you have to go with the LS or LT. The voodoo is absolutely ridiculous and is definitely not something to put down. Not too many people really realize just how different these powertrains are. Love the video! will be watching more

I was getting 26MPG out of a TPI 89 Firebird with a T56 behind it @ 75MPH mind you. I verified this on 1600 mile round trip. This car was making about 430HP and over 500ftlbs of torque. Of course that year Firebird was very aerodynamic and I had taken about 300lbs out as well as smog pumps. Not saying the new motors are not impressive but.... I think I could build one today maybe get another MPG or two and maybe another 40HP with modern electronics.

It’s funny the Coyote is a good engine for a half ton truck and does have decent torque for “reasonable” towing, however guys buy it and expect it to pull over its capacity and say the engine is no good it doesn’t make any torque.
I wish people, even mechanically educated people, would use common sense.
