Microsoft Has UK Government Meetings This Week

Microsoft's Brad Smith will meet with the UK Chancellor this week to discuss comments made about the CMA and also the Microsoft Activision Blizzard merger. In addition, the CMA and FTC partnership has been a lot more involved than they seem to be letting on.

Previously: The Microsoft Activision Blizzard case had an interesting update yesterday with the realization that the case may close without the CMA or FTC approvals in hand. This comes way of MLEX who is saying that Microsoft and Activision are lawyering up to take on the CMA decision and figure out how to separate the companies in a way that allows them to close everywhere else in the world without the CMA or FTC approval. Meanwhile, the FTC chair Lina Khan faces a tough investigation about abuse of power.

I mean the UK government decided to keep the CMA independent. If they had made them a government entity with set ground rules this would not have happened. The UK let a private, independent entity decide the rules for a whole country.

My prediction is FTC loses in court. CMA loses the appeal process and then with the pressure of the government forced to approve the deal, Microsoft wins in the end
