In 2010 a production company built this fortified Viking village in south east Iceland for a movie. But unfortunately after building they never ended up using it. Several Icelandic Turf style buildings and even a ship was left to the harsh and unpredictable elements this country experiences. But unlike most movie sets this place was built to last! Everything is still standing after many years! And anyone can come and visit! So join us today and let’s see what’s left!

That’s not a “village”, but a farm. The longhouse is not a “town hall”, but the actual house where the people would eat, sleep and work in if it had ever been a real place. Some of the more valuable and important animals would also been eating and sleeping in there during the night and bad weather. The small house in the middle would have been a smoke house and the one to the side a granary and store house.
