I am a retired meat inspector trained by the USDA. I believe frozen seafood is much safer than fresh. The wholesomeness of the frozen food product is much more reliable. Before becoming a meat inspector, I had a crab meat salad at a restaurant. I suffered severe food poisoning .

I used to be a commercial fisherman who now works at Red Lobster as a line cook. In all honesty "Fresh Seafood" can be dangerous. We used a method called flash freezing (very rapid freezing) which not only preserves freshness, but, also kills a lot of nasty parasites that multiply rapidly in frozen fish. Some can be lethal.
Another thing I've noticed is most restaurants that serve "fresh seafood" aren't always honest about species, and, origin.
I can honestly say our kitchen never smells. We know exactly what we're serving, that's important to me. Especially seeing some of the source companies I'm familiar with from working in Alaska (Bering Sea).
Better to be safe than sorry.

RED LOBSTER IS FAR FROM BING CHEAP OR REASONABLE! 2/27/23, My Daughter and I went to Red Lobster located in Mesquite, Texas. I ordered the Sailor's Plater Lunch Special $16.00, the small salad or small bowl of slaw no longer is part of it, the full size fried shrimp that used to be on it is now fried shrimp smaller than popcorn (mine was over fried) the fried Trout was good, the Shrimp Scampi so so (one shrimp was only part of a shrimp missing tail and part of body?) The baked Potato I ordered loaded came with sour cream only. My daughter flagged down another Server to get water and butter. Their famous rolls were room temp and dry. NO LONGER FAMOUS. My daughter's meal was okay, but not wort $14.99 for Broccoli and fried shrimp. I see them going out of business in the near future.

Red Lobster is my FAVORITE restaurant of any. I always have Admirals feast or Ultimate feast. Don't care if it's frozen or not. Taste's fantastic. It is expensive, so only a couple times a year. I have NO complaints about R. L.

I worked for Red Lobster in the mid to late 70s and was the best job I had in high school. The people were great, mostly, and the managers were very flexible because I played sports too. I started as a busboy then dish and utility on Sunday mornings. I am still friends with about 10 from there. Before the biscuits, we had hush puppies for the starch. I sure miss them. They still had the best clam chowder I have ever tasted. It took me a long time to remember the recipe to make it.

A more appropriate name for the blue female lobster would have been "Clawdia." I mean, after all!

Dishwashing there was annoying to clean the sauce cups, we had 50 percent discounted meals, but you had to eat before or after shift.

The Red Lobster in our town shut down years ago… at the time no one knew why it shut down… finally a few years later we found out that the Managers, cooks and wait staff were helping themselves to the freezer at the end of the night…it went bankrupt.. few years later the building was turned into a Mexican restaurant… it didn’t last a year considering we have 8 ( no kidding ) 8 in our small town..I guess 9 was the straw that broke that camels back… as of 3 weeks ago the building is being renovated and is now gonna be a mom and pop seafood restaurant… we’ll see how it goes hehe…

Olive Garden is still Darden, it was not part of the Golden Gate fiasco, and the corporate offices have always been in Orlando. Red Lobster merely moved to different digs.

I love the biscuits! Have eaten there 4 or 5 times. Their dishes are pretty good. Unfortunately I got sick on their crab legs about 25 yrs ago. But I did go back after that and had some decent meals.

3:22 - the good thing about frozen seafood is, if it had bacteria issues, etc, freezing for a number of days makes is safe to eat, , even raw if eaten asap.

I have a friend who's worked at one, largely part time as a dishwasher. He's getting ready to retire with a pension after 31 years. They love him there, won't let him leave. Might be the exception, but he gets free food...

When I was a little kid a big party of us went to Red Lobster for dinner. To my surprise they asked me pick whatever I wanted off the menu and I picked something really expensive while everybody watched. My mom later took me back by the bathrooms there and slapped me silly for running up the bill. Been mildly negative about the place ever

I work at a red lobster currently. And people do come in just for the biscuits and they order ONLY biscuits. Like alot. It's understandable tho. They are exceptional.

I only went there once and don’t want to come back. They give you so little but charge very high prices.
