I think you guys really missed the issue with the rear windshield blind as well. There isn't one in the 5. Given the ridiculous summers in the north, IMO it's a HUGE miss.

Unpopular opinion it doesn't matter how a car looks when you are sitting inside I think BMW have nailed it in this regard

The 5 series drives better, is quieter and more comfortable while being 5L cheaper, yet the merc wins? Makes no sense really

That Active Brake Assist thing is spot on !! It's damn irritating to keep fumbling into the menu and disable it every time you start the car unless you like being rear ended. I have the 2024 C class and I really hope they bring the same thing into our car with OTA update

If the 5 series had electric reclining seats and retractable blinds, it would have won hands down. A major trick missed by BMW. They could have even priced the car 5 L more.

I really miss the 3 pointed star on the bonnet of the Merc. It adds grace, beauty, elegance to it.
The tail lights on the Merc look amazing. The BMW kidney grille looks spectacular.

Great review by Gavin as always. Covered all points in both cars. But finally 5 series is far better as value for money than E class.

Based on what I heard in the review it’s clear BMW is the winner overall unless you are 70 years old or you never drive .

Rear blinds missed all over is a deal breaker

I am thing that Gavin chose BMW over Mercedes. However, Autocar wanted to show Mercedes as a winner at the end. This I am saying when they added additional footage (15:49) when Gavin said BMW rides well and one more when he said BMW is better in cushioning and immediately followed by a outside footage (19:21). Somehow I am not convinced here that Mercedes is better as I feel there was an Intervention!!. My opinion.

So basically the ride, the drive, the comfort, the interior quality, the insulation is better in the BMW but Merc only wins because of one extra screen and its rear seat slides. What a ridiculous conclusion

no seat ventilation at 80L in the mercedes??
