How I Prepare Grafts | Cutting and Covering Grapes for Good Harvest

Don't mind my voice-over in the first part of the video since weather conditions totally ruined the sound.
With this video I will start my hopefully long journey on grafting and getting more varieties of fruit trees in the garden with so little space.
Also just as planned, covering and cutting grapes before harsh frosts hit our area.

Video layout:
0:00-7:30 - how to cover and cut grapes
7:31-9:20 - how I prepare grafts
9:21-9:56 - grafted plum

Good afternoon Katsiaryna. Thanks for another excellent video from a a strong, self sufficient, talented offgrid woman. The video is evocative of the poem "The Four Seasons" by Cecil Alexander" "The fields are rich with daffodils, A coat of clover cloaks the hills, And I must dance, and I must sing To see the beauty of the spring. The earth is warm, the sun's ablaze, It is a time of carefree days; And bees abuzz that chance to pass May see me snoozing in the grass. The leaves are yellow, red, and brown, A shower sprinkles softly down; The air is fragrant, crisp, and cool, And once again I'm stuck in school. The birds are gone, the world is white, The winds are wild, they chill and bite; The ground is thick with slush and sleet, And I can barely feel my feet. The last is done, the next is here, The same as it is every year; Spring -- then sunshine ' autumn ' snow, That is how each year must go." That being said, thanks for sharing a tour of your cozy home - and have a wonderful day and weekend. ❤❤🌼🌻

I was told to put hay or compost around rose plants for the winter time. I wonder if too much compost would cause rot to the plant you want to protect? I believe that some iron filings would help prevent bacteria from rotting the trunk of the plant you want to protect. Is black plastic better than white or clear plastic for winter protection? I don't know which would keep warmer. Perhaps black on the north side and clear facing the southern winter sun. . Fill with hay to let just a little light in but help insulate to keep the warmth from the ground around the trunk of the grapes. Perhaps it is not necessary where you live to take such precautions as hay and compost. It is always good to see you. I look forward to seeing what you will graft this spring. 8

I just think of what fun I could have gardening and grafting if I didn't have a full-time job and four kids

Good point on the cutting part we don’t need to winterize here but I didn’t cut in 2021 and we had very little grapes, the berries covered for it though, great vid and it looks peaceful there.
