The Church of England has voted to allow women priests to be ordained as bishops, overturning centuries of tradition in a church that has been deeply divided over the issue.

After almost five hours of debate, the General Synod, the governing body of the Church of England, approved on Monday the proposal to allow women to take up senior roles in the Church.

"A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife...One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity...(For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)"

1 Timothy 3: 2-5

"And yet it is not lawful for the Church to ordain any thing that is contrary to God's Word written, neither may it so expound one place of Scripture, that it be repugnant to another."

39 Articles of Religion. Article XX. OF THE AUTHORITY OF THE CHURCH

"But if the church proceed further to make any article of the faith, beside the Scripture, or direct not the form of life according to the same; then it is not the pillar of the truth, nor the church of Christ, but the synagogue of Satan, and the temple of antichrist which both erreth itself, and bringeth into error as many as do follow it."

Archbishop Thomas Cranmer
(Works of Archbishop Cranmer, Parker Society I, p 377)

"The doctrine of the Church of England is grounded in the Holy Scriptures and in the teaching of the ancient Fathers and Councils of the Church, and is particularly contained in the Thirty-nine Articles of Religion, the Book of Common Prayer, and the Ordinal." (The Cannon Law of the Church of England. Of the Doctrine of the Church of England. V)

CHURCH FATHERS

“Even if it is granted to a woman to show the sign of prophecy, she is nevertheless not permitted to speak in an assembly. When Miriam the prophetess spoke, she was leading a choir of women ... For [as Paul declares] "I do not permit a woman to teach, " and even less "to tell a man what to do." (Origen, Fragmenta ex commentariis in epistulam i ad Corinthios)

"It is not permitted to a woman to speak in church. Neither may she teach, baptize, offer, nor claim for herself any function proper to a man, least of all the sacerdotal office." (Tertullian. On the Veiling of Virgins. 2nd century)

I have be going round having a nose in churches as of late and I'm not impressed with the staff or the church as an institution; many staff seem to lack the kind of education or even mental aptitude required for the development of the church. Many rituals seem foolish tool - I have been left shell shocked by communion; and can see why so many churches are empty. Yet many staff drive extremely nice cars.

The whole design and style of the church must change too; many of the clothing i see do not inspire or raise ones spirit or imagination.

I also query the head of the church of England's role in the church as it seems complete folly that the head of the church be head of state as well- in essence the future of the church has been restrained. And we know here in England the majority of service and etc as stuck in older redundant systems.

Most heads of Churches that I see nowadays seem very base and lack a sparkle to them to ignite a fire in anything.

And that just my opinion in two weeks of looking into churches.

These sick hypocrites! If you can allow the Homosexuals to be ordained, why not the women who were baptized and are since time immemorial in partnership with men in the work of God?
