A question was asked about connecting a captive portal to the network, so I made this diagram. The captive portal simply sits on top of one or more network interfaces and can be connected to once the user connects to the network.

Thanks for watching.

One reason for a guest and Staff/in-house wifi access point is very simple. The access points may be very dumb.. They may be old wireless routers, Raspberry Pis, or USB dongles hung off who knows what. Guest Wifi may use G band while Staff uses an N-band access centered on the Admin area. Some people learned on single SSID systems . They may not be comfortable going beyond them. My router with 2 extra nic ports and onboard WifI., plus USB 2, . No Wifi access is currently set up. For my home use, almost anything would serve. I am the sole user on my net now.

I am a retro Pc hacker. A captive portal may also secure primitive systems which do not have good user controls themselves. There are DOS, Amiga, and even 8 bit systems being given wifi or Ethernet capability. The portal may manage access to the local net, direct internet access, or VPN secured access.

Hi there, this is a great video, thanks for that.
I have a quick question.
I want to have two logins on my Captive Portal page (on same page)
1. Open Access (After click/Agree will allow them access to a Walled-Garden )
2. Voucher (for WAN/Internet)

How can I achieve that, with PFSense
