Do Not Pursue The Taste Of Good Food

Miyamoto Musashi was one of the most famous samurai warriors to of ever lived and one of the key principles he left behind was “Do Not Pursue The Taste Of Good Food”

Let me explain

On the surface, this principle may seem simple and straightforward. However, upon further reflection, it becomes clear that it holds a deep and profound truth about the nature of happiness and fulfilment.

First and foremost, this principle reminds us that good food is a temporary pleasure. No matter how delicious a meal may be, it will eventually be consumed and forgotten. In contrast, true happiness and fulfilment come from within and cannot be found in external sources, such as food.

Furthermore, the pursuit of the taste of good food can lead to excess and indulgence. By constantly seeking out and indulging in delicious meals, we can become slaves to our cravings and desires, losing sight of what truly matters in life. In this way, the pursuit of the taste of good food can be detrimental to our health and well-being.

Additionally, the pursuit of good food can be a distraction from what is truly important in life. By constantly focusing on the pleasures of food, or anything external, we may lose sight of our goals and priorities, and fail to make progress towards achieving our dreams. In this way, the pursuit of good food or any external pleasurable distractions can be a barrier to our personal growth and development.

Overall, the principle "Do not pursue the taste of good food" reminds us that true happiness and fulfilment cannot be found in external sources. Experiencing new cuisines is fine - however we should never forget the sole purpose for food is fuel for our bodies, and by focusing on our inner selves and our goals, rather than on temporary pleasures, we can live a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

Man the Era he was in the food was 100% real and clean water & air ... nowadays this message is more important then the times he lived in.. with all the gmo and fluoride in the water... it be better to eat organic broccoli then a slice of Cheese Cake so this message is super based of Miyamoto..

I don’t believe he was even talking about food. His saying is close to, the man who loves running will go farther than the man who loves the destination. But most importantly his quote just basically means don’t chase instant gratification.

I used to be obsessed with good food. I would go to great lengths to find the perfect meal, traveling to exotic locations and spending exorbitant amounts of money. I thought that the pursuit of taste was the ultimate goal, the one thing that could bring true happiness.

But then I had an epiphany. I realized that I was chasing a false idol, that the taste of good food was not worth sacrificing everything else. I began to see that there was more to life than just culinary pleasures.

I started to focus on other things, on my work, my relationships, my health. I found that these things brought me more joy and satisfaction than any meal ever could. I began to see that the pursuit of taste was a shallow and empty endeavor, one that would never bring true fulfillment.

As I let go of my obsession with good food, I started to appreciate the simple things in life. I found that a quiet night at home with loved ones was just as satisfying as a fancy meal at a five-star restaurant. I found that a walk in the park on a sunny day could be just as exhilarating as a gastronomic adventure.

And as I let go of my attachment to taste, I found that I was able to enjoy food in a new and different way. I was no longer looking for the perfect meal, the ultimate taste sensation. I was able to appreciate food for what it was, a source of nourishment and sustenance, a way to connect with others and share in a common experience.

The moral of the story is that we should not pursue the taste of good food at the expense of everything else. We should appreciate food for what it is, and see it as part of a larger tapestry of experiences that make life worth living. We should focus on the things that truly bring us joy and satisfaction, and let go of the things that do not. When we do this, we can find a deeper sense of fulfillment and happiness in our lives.

To be fair our strongest memories come from smell, and taste is linked with smell

Happiness does come from food but chasing it can lead to unhappiness. Over all good video

This reminds us that good food is nothing much because eventually the meal will be finished, that last bite will be swallowed and the taste will be gone and that just shows that it is temporary and should not be sought after. Amazing video uplifting people to this principle

love the concept behind these videos, hate watching the same intro over and over. It introduces new people for 5-10 videos max and then alienates their focus from the content entirely by having to hear the intro again.

I think what he meant is to explore things, rather than to stay in one box, we must explore and understand things inorder for us to move forward and enjoy things in different way.

Chasing something... Whatever it may be such as lust, comfort, taste and other things will never bear good fruit. As long as you don't chase them and stay in ur limits, nothing can stop or harm you.
